About the cameras

Is there anywhere that goes into detail about the cameras?

What sort of tech are they using?

Are they all at the same height?

You can probably find more refs in http://blog.snapshotserengeti.org/ . Basically these are digital trail cameras which are mounted in protective steel cases and attached to tree trunks or other supports, usually at a height of 1m above ground. The cameras are sensitive to motion. Each time something moves near the camera it takes a burst of 3 images (daytime) or one flashlit picture at night. Periodically field staff visit each camera, cut away any vegetation in its field of view which might trigger the motion sensor, and download the stored images.

Thank you, I had had a read through the blog before posting but a little search of it had not revealed much information about the actual cameras' technical specs theirselves. But I am interested to know what height they're mounted at - helpful if some gazelle is scratching itself at close range 😃 Thank you!
