tails and ears

  • wendyvdp by wendyvdp

So often we only see a tail (or part of rump with tail) . And though the characteristics of that tail are clear, it is still hard to identify whose tail it is. Im so often comparing the tails to what I can see in the head-to-toe pictures in the classification screen. What I really would like is a collection of tails, with the proper names of their owners. If not in the classification screen, then somewhere else where it is easy to find, to check afterwards (and learn from it)

That topic came up before, see here: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000002/discussions/DSG0000ld2

In that thread David shared a link to a collection of images of animal backsides, very helpful!

Thanks, I favorited it immediately. Nice reference page for herbivores rumps

I would like more detailed close-ups in the classification screen of distinctive parts of each animal. Distinguishing the horns of a Thomsons' and Grant's gazelle, for example, is very difficult from the images provided.

@libervurto - a more detailed guide in the interface would be great, but unfortunately we're not in a place to make major interface improvements. However, compiling a comparison of close-ups for all the different antelope horns (like David did for rumps here https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidbygott/9355446889/) would be a great idea.
