Elephant eating a tree?

  I think it would be breaking the branch down to get at the small amount of leaves on it. I dont believe Elephants eat wood.

  They actually eat a lot of woody material -- and do quite a number on the trees in the process. Mostly they strip off the leaves and the bark.
