Zebra with brown stripes

Is that a trick of light? Or just a possible pattern for young ones? Never seen that before ...

I believe young zebras start off with rusty brown stripes, which darken as they get older. This looks like a mother and youngster.

I'd been seeing some that look brown all over their back, like this one --- I assumed it's b/c they were rolling around in the dirt.

Here's a lovely example of a zebra calf, showing its brown stripes (in contrast with the black stripes of the adults next to it) and brown furry strip along its back: ASG0003t1o
