Magenta photos

  I've run across a few photos that seem to only have the magenta color, missing the cyan and yellow. I'm curious about what this is. Was a camera damaged so that it made these images with only one color? Or is it some kind of thermal infrared that is being shown in false color? I'm pretty sure this isn't thermal, since the wildebeest is dark and would be bright if it was thermal. Maybe a monochrome light amplification (starlight) system?
