Dominance display or something else?

Are these two fighting, playing, or something else altogether?

I might be totally wrong in my reading of this sequence 😃 but this is what it looks like to me:

Frame 1 : Two wildebeests, standing / grazing calmly. Suddenly something startles foreground wildebeest, and flight reflex kicks in (could be just the sound of the camera going off, though the wildebeest don't usually react to that, but if it was already jumpy, that might be enough to scare it into "run away!" mode).

Frame 2 : Foreground wildebeest running away from whatever-it-is almost runs into background wildebeest, who has looked up, thinking "What the heck?!".

Frame 3 : Foreground wildebeest continues past background wildebeest, galloping off as fast as he can, and background wildebeest is now thoroughly spooked thinking "OMG! Whatever it is, it must be bad!" and heads off in a different direction as fast as he can!
