hmmm... tough one

  What do you you guys think this is? The fur to me is akin to a Heyna or possibly a jackal but honestly I'm a bit stumped.

  Hayvel, that's a very useful illustration! Well done. I'd like to draw attention to that in a separate posting. I agree with #hyena, it's too hairy for lion.

  Great, Identified as a Hyena, but with it being so close to the camera I didn't feel certain of the height. Thank you for the illustration as well!
