More eagles?

  • katherineslive.co.uk by katherineslive.co.uk

I've done this a couple of seasons now, and I don't remember seeing eagles before yet this season we're seeing lots of pictures of them. Am I right? Is it a good sign or bad?

There have been eagle images in previous seasons. Perhaps you did not get any to ID last time round. The eagle population will, year on year, and barring any disasters remain fairly static. Some eagles are migratory and may boost the number in a given area for a short while.

It is always good to see raptors, including eagles, as they tend to indicate that an area is healthy and able to support a range of small mammals and rodents.

It is also just thrilling to see them as they are truly majestic !

Thanks for the reply. Agree they are incredible to experience. I grew up in Norway, and once experienced a white-tailed eagle fly a meter or two over me. It's 2+ meters wingspan made it quite a daunting experience.
