A cheetah(?) on the prowl for wildebeest

  • zorglax by zorglax

Is the animal on the left a cheetah? The pictures look like it's following the wildebeest...

    It is a Thomson's gazelle, not a cheetah 😃

Could cheetah even take wildebeest? Maybe the very youngest...

A solitary cheetah could not take a fit, fully grown wildebeest, but is capable of tackling a young wildebeest. If two or more cheetahs are hunting as a group then it is possible for them to tackle an adult wildebeest, but more often than not they will take smaller prey.
The cheetah is not easily able to defend prey that it has taken and therefore they tend, either singly or in groups, to take smaller prey that can be eaten quickly.
