Cool trio

  • BHamer by BHamer

Once again dimly recalling a long-ago blog post to the effect that finding three species in a capture is a rarity on SS, I thought I'd share this unusual collection. I'm guessing that of those uncommon groupings of three, few, if any, manage to also exclude wildebeest, zebra, and/or gazelles.

But this one does. Obviously we have our young hartebeest front and center. The progression of frames reveal that he's hiding an impala. And there seem to be two.. vervet monkeys, maybe?.. on the first branch of the tree.

And now, immediately after posting, I played the succession of frames again and noticed that I'd missed a third monkey moving in the center of the tree above the first two. It doesn't quite move far enough to see the angle of the tail very well, so I'm still not positive the monkeys aren't baboons. They seem awfully small compared to the size of the impala almost straight below, them, though- that's what led me to guess vervets.
