It's large, with a tufted tail, noticeable hump but no sloped shoulders, and light fur. I think it's an Eland.

don't eland's have black stripes on their "elbows" and a black stripe along the belly??

Based on how thin the tail and front legs are as well as the coloration, I would consider hartebeest.

could be, but i would expect a hartebeest to have a darker back and a whiter butt...but what do i know i never even saw the animal...

Big animal with no black stripes on butt, so eliminate gazelles and impala. Smooth short coat, eliminate waterbuck. No dark patches on thighs, eliminate topi. Tail has thin fringe of black hair, not a round tassel or long black hair, eliminate eland and gnu. The butt & thighs are definitely lighter than the body and the withers (shoulder area) are humped...no other choices left!
