Aardwolf or striped hyena?

I identified it as an aardwolf but I have trouble telling between these two, and I have only seen aardwolves at night. Also is this guy just finishing going to the bathroom?

Aardwolf. Striped hyenas have a distinctive dark patch on the throat. I think you will be very lucky to see a Striped Hyena, as they are quite rare compared with Spotted Hyenas and Aardwolves.
