Could this be an eland!

    Actually, I think this is a wildebeest:

    • the colour is a bit too dark for either eland or hartebeest;
    • the tail is too hairy for eland (they have a smooth tail with a tassel of dark hair on the end), and too thickly shaggy for hartebeest;
    • if you lighten the image in another program, you can just make out some darker stripes running down from the spine over the rib cage - typical of wildebeest.

    Thanks. Sounds very feasible. What program do you use for lightening of images?

    I've got a copy of Paint Shop Pro which I've used for years for graphics stuff, so I use that. If you don't have anything like that, though, I've seen really good comments and reviews about IrfanView, a freeware image processing program - you could try that.
