Mongoose?

Is this a mongoose? It's definitely striped, but where is the long tail?

Took it into Photoshop to throw some light on it, and it's a Guinea Fowl. I don't know if it's the illusion of the tilted camera, but it does seem to be walking pretty oddly.

Thanks! And I think I know why it is walking oddly. After your comment I put the pictures in Word (my only photo manipulation program), enlarged and brightened them and found... the creature has 2 heads! 😃 One at each end of the body! I.e. it is actually 2 Guinea Fowl, one moving forward, the other backward.

Ah, that makes much more sense. I can see it now. Their cryptic patterns make it hard to distinguish individuals, an evolutionary strategy that has benefited a lot of Serengeti wildlife.
