What to do?

  • StrongMay by StrongMay

Hi, what do we do when we can't identify a picture? For example, when an animal is too far away/blurred/angled badly to identify, or the picture is a close-up of a body part but not enough to tell what it is, or shadows\flash take away visual clues, or like in this picture: is it male or female?

    What is this animal? (http://www.snapshotserengeti.org/subjects/standard/51a3316de18f49172b0cd2c2_1.jpg)

If you can't identify an animal, just give it your best guess. This post (and subsequent comments) explains why: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000006/discussions/DSG0000dxb

I'd say the lion in this picture is probably female, as male lions tend to have rather, er, obvious indications of their gender!

And my guess of the picture you linked is a wildebeest, given the coat color and subtle pattern.
