What to do?

  • TimSz by TimSz

This is too hard to identify. However, I do not want to click "No animals present."

What can be done in this case? There should be a button "Don't know. Next."

Always take a guess. There are ways to narrow the options, such as size, shape, colour, tail etc. Also by eliminating what it cannot be the choice becomes clearer. Here we can see that it is clearly not a zebra, giraffe, elephant, baboon, warthog and so on.

By working through the list on the classification page we are soon left with little to choose from. We can see that we are looking at an animal that is moving from left to right and that it has a dark chest and foreleg, a deep brown body and the shoulder is higher than the camera. Checking through the list and looking at the examples for each species narrows the choice down to one - a Topi.

As you become more accustomed to the site and you classify more and more images you will soon get into the swing of things. Don't worry about getting things wrong. We all make mistakes, but these are corrected by other people checking the same images.
If you are stuck, do as you have done here and ask, there are always people around who will help you.

You will soon master the ID of most images, though there always some that will baffle everyone. Part of the fun is trying to work out a really difficult ID.

    Enjoy !!
