    Correct, it s a hippopotamus with the head down .

    They leave the water at night and feed on short to medium height grasses . They will consume up to 70kg ( 150 lb ) of grass over a 5 or 6 hour period before returning to the water . Some aquatic plants are taken, but this is minimal as is the intake of carrion that has sometimes been observed and is thought to occur only when there are stresses on the individual(s) concerned .

    They will take the same paths when leaving the water to forage for grasses, and over time this can compact the soil and alter the local topography . It is when they are on land that the most conflict between hippos and people occurs, and they will charge and attack with astonishing speed with no apparent reason . 😃
