wildebeest ageing

  • tam10 by tam10 scientist

Yes, well done! The four animals on the left are wildebeest calves, probably about 8 months old. They have straight spiky horns at that age, and they are grazing, which means they have at least partially weaned from their mother. The animal in the back right behind the tree is an adult female, which you can tell by the shape of the horns: slender and round.
