Identifying extreme close ups

Not sure how technically feasible it is, but would be helpful to be able to view other photo sets from the same camera before and after the set being identified. This would increase the likelihood of correctly identifying an animal, which in photos like this one, appear as just a screenful of fur.

It would be nice, in most projects though that kind of function is not possible. Many projects have only 1-shot images. We have 3-shot captures, and as we see, that still does not always make it simple, no matter how many images can be seen. It will take little time and effort to learn the ID-features of different animals. With that it is possible to narrow down the options e.g. in closeups. The more we classify, the better we get. So don't worry, everybody can learn and identifying will become easier with more experience, and mistakes are part of learning.

In this image we have wildebeest. Cameras are set about 0,5-1m above ground. Here the big size is the first cue, which rules many animals out. Then it has fur, not skin. Fur is dark. So it is big animal with dark fur which leads us to wildebeest/buffalo. The darker vertical "stripes" are typical for wildebeest fur, visible well in certain light. So we have now classification for this one - wildebeest.
Hopefully you find this helpful 😃
