Meercats

Are there meercats in the Serengeti? I am curious that they are not on the classification list. I have not seen any, but see habitats that remind me of them.

Meerkats are part of the mongoose family (Herpestidae). The typical animal you think of when thinking of meerkats has the scientific name Suricata suricatta and is found only in the Southernmost part of Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Angola). So while you won't see meerkats in the Serengeti, you can see plenty of their close relatives - the mongooses.
