Any idea what this is?

    Smallish critter passing through at speed. I marked it as a bird, but that's obviously a guess. Maybe a thick-knee?

    I wonder if it's perhaps a hare? There's a suggestion of long ears above those eyes, and hares can zip along at a fair speed.

    I had this same photo and ended up classifying it as an unknown bird. I now have doubts about that. But at the time I considered the speed, I couldn't make out 4 legs, and I wasn't even sure if it was on the ground.

    I think the main thing that makes me think it might not be a bird is the eyeglow - not sure you'd get that from a bird flying across the field of view. I could be wrong about that of course. 😃

    Hare was the other thing I was considering, but in the end it just looks sort of birdy to me. I don't know whether nocturnal birds like stone curlews have eyeshine or not.
