Night Time

Why do night time pictures not have the flip book play animation?

Just a design feature of the cameras. Certainly a flash photo uses much more power than a daytime exposure, so a triplet of flashes would eat up the batteries faster. The recovery time of the flash may be too slow for a series of 3 to be practical. Also, the first flash might well scare away the animal, so subsequent photos would be blank.
At the start of this project, more use was made of cameras that used infra-red light instead of visible flash. They delivered a sequence of 3 grainy monochrome images but quality was often too poor for accurate ID.

Yep. It's because the recovery time of the flash is too slow for us to get multiple images at night.
