No trunk?

I guess this elephant has its trunk raised to the right and it's therefore hidden in this photo. It's not actually a trunkless elephant, which I can't imagine could survive.

I dunno, it really does look 'truncated'. Sometimes the poor things lose them in poacher snares. it does make both feeding and drinking very difficult. Usually not so much of the trunk is lost so they can still make use of what is left. What do others think?

I think that the trunk must be present, but we are just seeing a bit of an unusual angle whilst the trunk is elevated . I cannot imagine that an elephant of this size could survive for very long if there was so much trunk missing, as feeding and drinking would be nigh on impossible . It would appear that this elephant is in good shape and there are no signs of a very recent injury from, say, a poacher's snare . Let us hope that everything is as it should be .
