They can be yellow-throated sandgrouse, about the size of pigeons. Males and females differ, the females are the spotty ones. These guys live out on the plains year-round and make long flights to water. They are famous for the males soaking up water in their breast feathers and carrying it back to the nest for thirsty chicks to drink!
