Twelve Days of Wildlife

by Jamee64
Help find pictures of wildlife that fit into the lyrics for the song, "Twelve Days of Christmas..."
So, for example, the original song is written, "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree." Here at the Lion Center, we might say something like:
"On the first day of searching in Serengeti, I found a lion in a tree"
The following days might include two topis, three guinea fowl, and so on.
Share your most creative ideas here, including images to match!
I hope you have fun. Let's finish Season 10 before the start of 2018!

FIIIIIIIIVE WIL-DE-BEEEEEEST.
They're a little far away and lying down in the grass, so there may be a better image. But it might do in a pinch.

These are great! and funny! Thank you, and keep them coming. We need three individuals of the same species for tomorrow.

We are already on day four!
Any more ideas for day five? I was hoping to save wildebeest for day 11-12, since we often see them in herds on Snapshot Serengeti.
So far we have: four elephants, three great giraffes, two topis grazing, and a lion in a tree!
Finding exact numbers can be tricky, so your help is greatly appreciated!

I think I misinterpreted the original idea to be that we should just collect images of 1-12 of our various animals, without regard to order or day, when perhaps what was intended was to go from 1 to 12 in order for 12 consecutive days. Either way, it's a fun idea.
I like maricksu's 7 zebras above better as a picture, and finding any number of zebras is probably easier than finding a specific number of baboons as she did. But, if you're trying to find entries from Season 10, here's 7 other zebras that just showed up for me to classify, if you don't mind them being accompanied by a lot of wildebeest as well.
There's also the fact that most of the zebras are facing directly away from the camera. Of course, "Seven zebra backsides" fits well into the cadence of the song, if we were to actually sing it. 😃

I agree, a very fun idea. I think, they are very grateful for all ideas, so please keep them coming. Not sure either, should those have been from this season, but thought it might not matter, because I think, the lion in the tree is from older season also. So please everybody, keep posting, probably at least bigger exact numbers are still needed 😃

Hi Jamee64,
Have you completed the Serengeti Christmas song? Would be nice to sing it here when classifying 😃

The final song went like this:
"On the twelfth day of searching the Serengeti, we found -- 12 Wildebeest, 11 zebras watching, 10 guinea fowl, nine impala huddling, eight buffalo, seven baboons drinking, six warthogs running, FIVE GRANT'S GAZELLE, four elephants, three great giraffes, two topis grazing, and a lion in a tree!"
Thanks everyone for all of your help! I shared several of your, "collections" on the Serengeti Facebook Page. I hope you had as much fun as we did. 😃
Anyone have any novel ideas for the month of January to keep classifying fun and engaging? How can we spice things up each month?
