I think that on their respective evolutionary pathways, reedbucks and bushbucks diverged from a common ancestor approximately last Tuesday.

#reedbuck. Though superficially similar, the bushbuck's tribe split from the reedbuck's tribe very early in antelope evolution...10mya?

In Serengeti, the bushbuck and reedbuck's closest relatives are the eland and waterbuck, respectively. Imagine that!

Ecologically they are very different. But that basic antelope shape is suited for many habits and habitats.
