Snapshot Serengeti Talk
#bat #impala
#Topi
#Buffalo
Small low slung brownish looking creature running fast from left tree towards open. Mongoose?
I found http://www.africanbirdclub.org/afbid/search/birddetails/species/2266/19877 . Think is a close match considering image distortion.
My guess from having kept the related Red billed species many years ago, looks like a young (or non breeding) male Red Headed Quelea.
#Scratching
looks like Lion stretching a left hind leg out- rump towards camera. look more like powerful hind feline paws, than canine or anything else.
I'd say Cheetah too.
As an ex foreign finch keeper, they remind me of the shape of something like the male Long tailed Paradise Whydah.
I think Spotted Hyena too.
#butterfly photo2
#topi
broken horn
#Zebra
#slate
yes cheetah
ASG001x6gv could it be a fluffy area on a Hyena? I was looking at my Hyena and Aardwolf collection CSGS000188 from page 30+
#Lion male
not bad image, just a Wildebeest walking really close to camera trip. black vertical strips on brownish body in photo one helps identify.
#scratching
Another good (for species id) rump shot. Male #Impala
Giraffe left side of middle tree.
but I suppose they have to be quick, being prey animals, but still, the speed converting grass n foliage to flesh n bone growth, amazing!
Thanks David. When you think about it, how amazing these animals are. Birth to full size, in such a short time, compared to us slowcoaches!
Great rump shot (for id) of a #Grants
lovely capture...reminds me of the song "Nellie the Elephant, packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus.....
lovely B E Fox family
lion and lots of #insects
Can you tell the rough age of the huge horned male, from the size of his horns?
#butterfly (photo 3) white with orange tips
Butterfly (2nd picture)
#spotted-Hyena
does look like wildebeest calf to me too
Definitely a Leopard.
you can see why they have the spots, if you look at the dried grass just below it, it looks rather like a spotty pelt!
lovely #Cheetah
camera error, makes interesting art work!
warthog? digging/rooting in grass on right.
Superb Starling
#impala herd
Large male Impala, on close look can see black rump stripe on black/white tail and also can see Lyrate horns.
Cheetah yes
just trees lurking!
white-tailed mongoose
honey badger? light on top, dark below... tough call
did wonder if it was a zebra doing that look zebra seem to do when trying to see whats there.....
Look like Impala to me too. usually they Impala in wooded areas, when see middle sized brown antelopes.
Tommys. This camera trap's caught many images, showing them spaced apart 1 per tree. Could they be young males=territory or shade for 1 only?
ASG001rfss #Buffalo a minute before.
Lions.
Don't miss the #Giraffe on the right!
I lean towards Hartebeast too
#scratching #Impala
#Wildebeest interaction.
get up lazy! ;0)
Goats and other Masai livestock (donkeys, Cattle etc), please classify all as 'cattle'.
#Aardvark
?? I put young Elephant. moving to right, eye lower right, ear flapping..... ??
#Impala
i would have gone with wildebeest also.
#Eland
I think, I would have picked Steenbok in this case, just by deductions.
Difficult to tell. Doesn't look fluffy under, nor dark areas. rump/stance not look quite Dik-Dik like. neck not look long enough 4 Reedbuck
don't miss the passenger doing an ear impression! (bird)
herd of something running
large #wildebeest herd
don't miss the #Giraffe ! 😉
#young #wildebeest and adults
related to discussion in ASG001pexj
ASG001pewo ASG001pewy and guess this is the replaced camera snapping the team ASG001pewq
#eland note thin white stripes on back and shoulder hair ridge sticking up, as not so full guess- an older Youngster.
part of the ASG001pexj sequence
also ASG001peyj few minutes earlier. I guess researcher picking up and replacing Camera.
human
see ASG001pexp Human. Researcher.
#Human
#Bat flying over #Zebra
The smaller head, deep chest and narrow waist. I'd have identified them as Cheetah.
wow! A nice close up.
Huge #Wildebeest herd with #calf #calves
looks a bit too stocky to be Cheetah. I'd go for Leopard too.
don't miss the feeding #Impala (right side, mid way down!)
I remember some while ago, some distant Wildebeest (wildebeest shaped) but looked Zebra-ish in (false) patterning, due to low res image.
I would agree Lion. Artifacts like spots/stripes can appear in grainy images.
All I can see is the Zebras Ear, which could look like something Black and White in distance, but zooming in, its Zebras ear.
I see what you mean! maybe camera type also
#warthog
Topi? going on horn shape etc, but colour is rather dark?
#Zebra #Foal #young
#giraffe
another #giraffe blending with the trees!
#wildebeest with lots of #calves #calf
almost missed the 2 #giraffe feeding. doing tree impressions!
Zebra #Foal
#wildebeest including very #young #calf #calves
nice #Impala group
nice clear group of #Impala
Don't miss the #Hartebeest hiding under the tree!
single file 3 #Hartebeest
large herd of #Wildebeest
#Giraffe
lovely colours
does look somewhat stockier than a cheetah, I'd have gone for a Leopard.
#wildebeest herd
#Buffalo herd #calf
looks like a painting!
Lovely Hyena .....with ankle socks on! 😉
#Buffalo #calf
#hippo
Male Lion was my guess then came across this one ASG001hnde then a quick search found these ASG001hne2 ASG001hndv
#buffalo herd with calves. #calf
#scratching (left) #Tommy /s
going going gone #Guinea-Fowl head
Could it be a Chanting-Goshawk?
Warthog was my guess, due to slim leg also.
Shape of the rump, doesn't look like Rhino, too flat. (saw TV programme today with mother + baby-in secret protected area in Serengeti). 😉
ASG001jjhr + ASG001jjie are similar time next day. Something has its interest 2days running?
certainly looks lizard like!
Another one of those great captures on Snapshot!! Its great you can see the cubs face too. 😃
I'd have gone for warthog.
probably a wildebeest horn
😃
would it be a warthog tusk? As they have vertical grooves.
looks like could be a tusk sticking up on left side of animal, small size, course hairs, colouring, possible warthog.
Lions in the area ASG001m989 and ASG001m96o. Likely a lion tooth in the 2nd pic, the black spots could be were its whiskers sprout from.
The tail is too long to be a Hippo.
young wildebeest
what bird? anyone please.
#Giraffe resting.
#selfie #zebra #dailyzoo 2nd pic
Also ASG001ld5n
ASG001ld6m and ASG001ld6l, then a while later ASG001ld61. if look closely you can see 'whiskers' so guessing its Lions, maybe a mouth/teeth?
Lion in area.
#wildcat
#selfie #Tommy
#lions (#lioness) on the move
pic 2 human selfie!
a previous seasons capture #kill
ASG001jjhr looks like could be a Side-Striped-Jackal
#lion #selfie (pic 1 best)
ASG001irrs also just moment before
ASG001irrn A Big buffalo sticks nose into Camera few minutes later, same night.
I thought Buffalo, maybe large male.
I'd go for more Impala too. I'd say stripy bit (when zoom in) is rump stripe and tail.
with #young #wildebeest #calf calves
elephants are very intelligent and curious animals. they will investigate anything they find like the camera and can wreak them too.
#waterbuck
#Tommy in middle - stepping behaviour?
incomplete picture error on 1 and 2
#Topi #scratching
small #bird bottom/middle of picture
#Birds lots Swifts or similar maybe?
#Grants and small #bird on ground which flies up.
#wildebeest foot stomp
#Reedbuck
#Giraffe Don't miss it, moving in the trees or the #bird flying towards it!
#lion #cub
#Butterfly x 2 #bug #bugs #insect

Thanks David, will remember that for another time.
https://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/?_ga=1.268011654.902465306.1459042469#/subjects/ASG001lsj7
#Rhino hangs around for a while (see last page in list of my Rhino and Hippo collection)
https://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/?_ga=1.268011654.902465306.1459042469#/subjects/ASG001lsj6 date/time stamp minutes later shows Rhino
#Rhino
#Rhino again
Certainly matches date/time wise for it to be the Rhino. well spotted. 😃
Wow! Great to see a Chameleon #reptile in a capture. Amazing the wildlife and behaviours that have been captured in these camera-traps.
bug covered #Impala
#Hyena
Don't miss the #Giraffe!
#Elephant. Lots of #calves. #Herd
#Egret on back of #calf #Buffalo
Peek-a-boo #Tommy female
#Spotted #Hyena pair --doing impression of a Vehicle with their eyes! -- White head light and red tail light! 😉
Rump views! to show differences in #Grants (left) and #Tommy (right).
Lovely Capture!
#selfie #Secretary bird
#Buffalo eating? red vegetation? or cleaning up afterbirth?
#Grants
Male Steenbok? due to huge rounded ears (and horns)
#zebra
#lion-male watching Zebra
Lovely capture of an #Impala
pair of #Dik-dik
#dust-devil
#zebra having a roll in the dust
nice #wildebeest capture
skinny #lion
LOL! 😃
#Tommy #scratching
A #Tommy mid right.
sky's a lovely colour.
#selfie #scratching
#Serval ears
#selfie
#Cheetah
Too long for Serval, its a #Cheetah tail
#Zebra interaction
I put rodent, but could have been a small bird running (mid right).
#Zebra with colourful sunrise/set behind
They can be even more misleading in the night captures! :0
Thanks rib66
3 #Dik-Dik
mud/muck or?
#Tommy gathering
#scratching (left #wildebeest)
#kill remains
started a tag group for animals with a #kill
tail Vervet?
#hare
#Wildebeest #selfie
also Eland ASG0015k0z
I thought Hartebeest, as no black belly strip, nor do the genital shape look like Eland. Heres another view ASG001cr87 and Eland ASG0015k0q
side #selfie
#selfie ?
#bugs thousands!
#lion hind paw
Probably Impala
#bugs galore!
Warthog at front and a number of Wildebeest behind
Side-striped Jackel
yes Warthog
#White-tailed-mongoose
Buffalo
going on colouring/looks, probably something like a Warthog close-up
I'd say they were Vervet Monkey, they don't have the right tail carriage for Baboon.
#young male #lions #flies
#fighting
yes dik-dik
#selfie #hartebeest
#selfie Really lovely capture. and dancing #zebra!
Springhare
#Guineafowl head and neck
The animal in the centre distance of picture, disappears suddenly in image 3!
#selfie if cropped
#owl
#wounded #Impala
possibly #fighting Impala and a #Tommy gives strange look! (press play)
lovely mother #Wildebeest resting and her #Calf
another picture thats wide screen setting #Impala
Looks like a wildebeest with its head down eating
Just a log/branch.
Yes Reedbucks
think its just waving grasses
Ear shape is Gazelle like and height, makes it most likely Tommy Gazelle
Wildebeest, yes.
#Impala and #Warthogs
These are buffalo.
you guessed correctly Wildebeest
Looks nasty!
Nice!
#Serval
or buffalo
whats it killed?
I'd go with Ostrich also.
In 1&3 (look at area below mound (middle)) to see pale moth/B'fly? flying out of grass, could b whats in 2. also no wild g.pigs in Africa 😉
#Baboon. Correct
just grass seed heads
close up of #Giraffe feet
ASG001djy3
#Bat-earred-Fox
looks like a white-tailed-mongoose
#porcupine
#Wattled-Starling male ...note the black + bright yellow on head and wing (young and females don't have bright yellow or black on the head)
possible reedbuck.
#Wildebeest
#lion
Nice Hare and #Hippo capture
#reedbuck 'grinning!!'
#lion pride
Horse like face - Zebra
The Owl is here quite a few nights, click on the link - CSGS000acn to see more of this owl.
There's a #Guineafowl, -Secretary Bird, -Ostrich + a 'new' option -'Vulture', any other bird, please use -Bird(other) option. Thanx
very nearly missed the #Giraffe right in the distance!
possibly a Barn owl.
#Guineafowl head.
Nice capture of a wandering #Warthog
#Wildebeest left and in far background and also #zebra
#Short-earred-Owl ?
CSGS000acn owl collection. it is here most nights from mid april into may
ASG0018tml could be same owl different night
#buffalo Wouldn't want to upset him!!
#lion #cubs cute!
#lion #cubs
Yes correct, more wildebeest.
#Wildebeest herd, one on right has classic side view outline of wildebeest.
Sorry they are #Buffalo
#mongoose
#chalk-board
#chalk board
#zebra mucky or colouring?
#warthog and pigets
#giraffe walking in back gound hidden almost by the muck/dirt/bug on the camera
#Wildebeest almost in step!
#Bat-Earred-fox
wrong muzzle shape for Dikdik
pic 2 bird of prey of some sort?
photo bomb #bird
#hartebeest
Warthog correct! see ASG00148pr
#dustdevil
I'd agree has a mongoose's head look about it.
#serval - short stripey tail
I wonder if this 'mist' look is actually from a coating of Serval 'spray', see slightly earlier ASG0015j5i !!
its ok, I labelled the wrong photo.
#Reedbuck Buck
#lion #collared lioness
#Hartebeest
Yes Impala, also the black marks on the heels and classic Impala rump pattern seen in photos 2 and 3.
Wildebeest classic darker stripes on and behind shoulder.
#Tommy eating, but don't miss the buck on the right side of the screen!
3 #Giraffe (don't miss the 2 hiding behind bush/tree in centre of image) also looks like larger black bird on dead tree truck nr right edge
large #wildebeest herd.
possibly another #Secretary bird. also in distance nr horizon are some gazelle moving
Although looks a bit like the Reedbuck, it has white spots on rump/side and darker near neck. #Bushbuck female.
Wonder if 'spotty back' here,is same animal as ASG000akfe?
ASG0005smp unsual too-possibly injury when younger, as they can cause stripes not to heal in-line ('spotty back' above was born that way).
it does happen, there have been a few other zebra with different markings. see ASG000akfe, less so ASG000bo9j. other markings ASG000r12b
I thought it could be possible, but something makes me say Tommy more.
I would guess by amount of flies, size of animal and colouring, its most likely a Buffalo.
Buffalo usually have lots of flies around them!
Two Colour stripes- Zebra mane.
#elephant
#human 's watching something in the sky.
#bird on log
#human scratching!
#human
2 in tree! Cat?-(middle)+lunch (low left)-gazelle? as a slim leg dangles-or both cats (ie mum n cub or male escorting near inseason female)?
Possibly Impala, they have black tipped ears.
#slate #human
I have quite a few views of these lions, see page 392 for a page full.
#caracal
I would possibly guess a spotted-hyena. see ASG000rzuy ASG0014nwc as some appear greyish headed or balder looking...
#Impala night shot
#slate #Human
Could be just stretching or maybe he's urinating, I've seen other ungulates,(in wildlife parks too) in same/similar stance, urinating.
Muck or insect usually on lens, sometimes camera housing gets invaded by insect colonies, like ants, so soil obscures view.
#Kori-Bustard displaying
Rump looks #reedbuck like see ASG000zuqg to compare
2 Grants, Tommy background
#aardwolf
#Tommy and a flock of #Birds
Is it just me and the way this #Grants is stood or does it have a swollen neck?
Does have a Jackal look about it.
maybe nibbling an itch of some kind or licking blood off paws?
The 'favourites' banner almost hid the giraffe head!
#bugs #flies
don't miss the #giraffe exiting right
#Hippo 's
#cheetah
same day an hour before ASG0013nju Cheetah
picture error (narrower than normal)
#human activity
ASG0013957 puzzle solved, a well blended in 2nd animal!
I classified it as Topi dispite unclear colouring, as horns fitted Topi shape.
#elephant family
Well spotted rib66xyz
Thick neck!?
someones shaking the camera!
I thought What?!? looks like an alien creature, then realised of course, its an Ostrich! when head appears in pic 1
While distracted by the sweet baby Impala, don't miss the other Impala on the right!
Yes #Aardwolf
http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG00147oz few minutes later, in background
I thought it looked a bit like a zebra muzzle
weird skies!
Lovely view of mother #Topi interacting with her #calf
(and a #Giraffe)
morning #hot-air-balloon ride
#hartebeest covered in #flies / #bugs
#reedbuck with #fawn
very young #elephant #calf with 2 slightly older #calves and an adult feeding
3 #Impala moving and don't miss the 1 feeding on right of the images!
#Wildebeest herd, great view of lots of different angles of different body parts
I better clean my glasses, your right! LOL
#Tommys Is that an unusual stance? (hocks together, hooves spread)
Wow! Stunning colours in background.
A Warthog. As mentioned hippo alot bigger.
Thought Lion 1st, but image1 appears spotty, could b rough hair area (neck/shoulder) of cheetah or spotted hyena, mayb even Serval. Not easy
looks like the nose, whisker pad of a Lion
Could be spotted Hyena, appears spotty on each image, Hyena have slopping back, could be closer to camera than think or walking on a ridge.
#bugs (termites)
If zoom in-To centre of image is a group of small 'somethings', another runs closer to the larger animal, which is moving quickly or maybe..
... .a lone baboon (other something else) is following mongoose/guinea fowl?!? whatever it is, it appears to have long thin legs.
Yes #Giraffe
yes correct. the tail of an #Ostrich
Plant leaf, when checked a few other times and dates, including 3rd and 7th July it is still there, same place.
Wrong colouring for Hartebeest, #Wildebeest
They may attack cubs, if they come across them by accident, don't think they actively seek them out. Please scientists, correct me if wrong.
#impala
possibly long strands of dry grass/plant, stems
oh ...! having finally decided how many #Tommies, I pressed finish and realised, I still hadn't yet classify the little bird on the branch!
rump of a #grants exiting stage left
Giraffe. classic colouring/pattern, Cheetah has black spotting.
#Baboon troop on the move
2 x #superb-starling
Could it be a Red billed Buffalo weaver? it appears to have some white on the shoulder
#fire just starting to take hold in places.
Looks like theres a balloon behind middle right tree.
#reptile #Lizard
Interacting #Tommies Male following and scenting air, to see if female is on heat.
#Bug Plague! look like Termites!.
#Giraffe hiding
Grass cutting-Your turn!
Male #Lion with Topi or Hartebeest in background.
I thought rump/shape looked Steinbuck, but wasn't sure if it had white spots on side or if could be trick of flash/lighting, Difficult call.
#zebra train
looks like it has some old scarring on legs?
#tick #bug
#baboon family #baby #babies
Could this be a Steinbuck too or female Bushbuck?
#hartebeest nibbling leg
#warthog x2
#superb-starling x2
Scruffalo #Buffalo
#wattled-starling
#vulture
Don't miss the 2 hot air balloons in back ground!
Correct. Its an #Ox-Pecker, they eat the ticks/bugs that otherwise would irritate and suck blood. So of benefit to the Giraffe.
I would suggest #spotted-Hynea. Although its a different day, this animal ASG0014eus looks remarkably similar height and 'fluffiness'
Wow! #Serval family
Yes, you can see the tell tale darker brown stripes on the neck, of a wildebeest.
#baby #calf #wildebeest
#Tommys grazing
compare ASG000pfo5. Buffalo behinds/sides have been mistaken for Rhino's, its not always easy when you can't see key features.
They are too long. have a look at this image of a Rhino, ASG0005ujl You can see the rhino is lower to the ground. hope this helps.
#baby #young #hartebeest
#Elephant, legs wrong for Rhino
yellow butterfly or bug? pic 2
I'd guess Tommys, as can see very dark stripes on some and they all appear a small species.
Difficult to tell, if its a rodent or maybe a bird running.
#Tommy with crossing horns
one over stuffed Hyena, he/she certainly got a good meal off of something.
ASG0015gwz another view
2 #Birds by feet of front 2 #Buffalo
love this capture! #collar #lion #lioness
#collar #lioness
#lioness #lion
#secretary-bird close up
#lion laying
Very nice capture!
A tusky #warthog definitely.
#zebra with strange belly pattern
#fire
Lions don't usually eat Hyena or other big cats if they kill them.
#herd #tommy
#bat
ASG0016paq idea guess this is the same animal, just different day, seems to have dark spots on ears, it threw me too with the spots
black line under belly suggests #Eland bull
play #fighting
Youngsters are brownish, but how long before they moult, I'm not sure, it might not have moulted baby coat or if its adult- likely Leucistic
Thanks Phald. I thought it was. I think, I should have worded it 'what bird?'
bird?
3 #spotted-hyena
#Buffalo and #Calf with a cloud of #flies #fly
#fire smoldering #smoke
#sparring #fighting females? or female putting in place a young male?
#Fly covered #Buffalo
great capture
#Lioness with dinner
Not sure of Secr. Bird behaviour, could be sunning itself or something called 'anting', allowing ants to crawl over it, helps rid the lice.
ASG00132tp This is who, just moments before, a very mucky #Buffalo !!
A mucky #Buffalo
I noted it had brown and black spots, so picked hyena, as found a hyena image on internet with similar spotting colour tones
#Grants Noted white patch of fur above black on rump.
I went with Guinea Fowl
wrecked camera housing
The ear shape and colour is wrong for a lion.
#Spotted-Hyena
Yes a #Serval
almost camouflaged #Giraffe
pic 2 n 3 the headless #Zebra
Trio of different species #Hartebeest, #Grants and #Zebra
#Ostrich in background
#bird in a tree
left one #scratching
I'd agree with the wildebeest
sun caused effect.
'Headlights' the #Hyena !
I think its a #hartebeest
#elephant calf
#vervet
spot the #tommy !
sun on camera caused 'rainbow'
I think its a baboon, with its nose right up to the camera, grabbing the camera, with its right hand.
It is nice....
#collar
it seems to be hovering?
Nice capture
possibly a bird of prey eating?
Looks like a bird, not sure what though.
Domestic cows yes. the Masai bring them out to feed on the grasses.
Put your left hoof in, left hoof out.....
pair of #porcupine
Possibly, the ladies, I've seen other similar species pull this posture to get close to scent her urine to see if shes in season or not.
This was commented about in a previous season, the female Tommys do seem to suffer with misshaped horns.
Does look like its a warthog.
...then of course when you adult n with some young family members, you have to do it again-of course its to educate them! 😉 moooo!LOL
#cows
hand rolling windows, umm takes me back.. n mooing, baaing etc at farm animals n quacking at ducks on the parks pond, prob4-5yrs old
He/she does looks a bit cross eyed in pic2!! Lovely!LOL
#white-tailed-mongoose The whitish tail's out of shot here, but the darker legs +dark edge along back, can help id this mongoose.
Looks like a male wildebeest to me! 😉
I think it might be a zebra ear in bottom right corner
3warthog head close ups ASG000oxvd ASG000n6wr ASG0006jr8 + 2 rear views ASG000y7ti ASG000n0bx showing different views to help id warthogs
If we look at image 1, I would guess, top of head, with the top darker 'part' a Right ear, the left wrinkley area, surrounds right eye.
Leaping Impala
Following the Herd of #Elephants with #calves
capture 3 certainly looks like a Vervets face, possibly eatting something?
#Superb-Starling
#buffalo
#Baboon duo sat in the grass
lorry
No #Eland females and #calf Black line under belly and black 'squares' on backs of forelegs are identifying features of the Eland.
2 #Warthog
#Wildebeest , watching the #spotted-Hyena walk by, from a safe distance.
zooming in its a very young #zebra fawn.
#Hartebeest herd with #calf
2 Grants and around 7 Zebra
too big for reedbuck,its a #hartebeest and her #baby #calf
I would have probably gone for the same, as the tail has a Reedbucks tail look about it.
#Tommy male.
wrecked #camera
#bat #bats
Yes, correct.
Its a #spotted-Hyena.
They have been Classify as human or buffalo in past, either is OK, then hashtag them as #Cows, thanks. This will help the scientists later.
Its I believe the birds tail, (likely an Owl -maybe barn, due to colour and tail shape),there are quite a few images with the tail feathers.
running #Zebra
#hartebeest female. Its big/tall-rule out lion, no white belly or side stripe rule out Impala + Gazelle, no black under to rule out Eland.
Male #Lion possibly
yes elephant truck
#Hartebeest yoga practice!
#Lion -Male rolling around
#bug of some kind?
#Zebra. When I zoomed in, they showed their stripes, its just a trickof the lighting, falling on them, making them appear different species.
#scratching #Tommy
#Tommy
great behind view of an #Impala, showing classic Impala rump patterning.
looks like the sun is highlighting a Wildebeest or Zebra tail. nice image though.
Yes, A larger amount of white on rump+thicker black edges to the white, id's her. The darkish side stripe's common in younger animals.
#kori Bustard
Hartebeest, I like the 2 that are standing facing each other! -under the trees behind the first group, almost missed them.
I believe, either Buffalo or Human, is acceptable, then goto discuss to hashtag #cows -Although some have #cattle - its #cows thats correct.
#fire -very close to camera!
#Dik-Dik
Don't know if its just me, but I'm getting alot more #Grants this season and not so many Zebra and wildebeest, I'm not complaining though!..
Well spotted.
Yes thats smoke.
#Leopard
young #Grants (note rump pattern).
#Bushbuck
the dead tree, now looks like its hiding a giraffe, but looking at the other days views, its not a giraffe!
Nice #Topi capture.
If this isn't Sam, maybe this one could be Samson (son of Sam).....
I'd agree with sisige. Looks like the top of front side of thigh of hind leg and the side of the animal.
4 #Hartebeest and a #Tommy. This shows how small the Tommy is.
...scale comparisons by Davidbygott are helpful. see: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000002/discussions/DSG0000la8
No a #Buffalo, its too big to be a warthog. Buffalo have large raggy edged ears, a warthogs are smaller and don't have huge horns, but the..
Baby #elephant eating
No its a #warthog
#dik-dik
Yes, correct a Thompsons.
#hartebeest -Had quite a few of him at this location. eg.. ASG0012dqd - ASG0012duy - ASG0012dum, seems to be hanging about around May-June.
#cow #cattle
#Cheetah - great capture.
His/her mum never taught this Grants, 'That you shouldn't eat with your mouth wide open!!' grin
No, looks like its just resting.
#Giraffe being watched by a #Baboon
#elephant and #calf #bat in background
rainy season....
nodding #Tommy
#Porcupine
This is a nice family shot and cute..!
I had been thinking that, no-one here, that was until finally someone did! see ASG0012876
nice close up
#chewing-grooming foreleg
Yes -The darkest on right, threw me too, thats why I asked-thought maybe in shade, but if not maybe its just a darker Topi....'shrug'
can someone varify the 3 larger animals on the right? I decided Topi in the end.
#Tommy yoga
I'd guess, by the 'spikey' head do, and black rump and 2 long legs, this has to be a #Secretary Bird, in front of the foggy camera lens!
Only just seen the previous picture with post about the cattle needing to be tagged as #cow.
#cattle
#Masai cattle
happy #zebra!
error occured on pic2 in classify page, although seems ok via the above 'play'. Picture vanished and the box elongated each time 'played'?
nice #zebra capture + #Tommy herd in distance
#giraffe legs in the sunset!
#Warthog -hair 'mane' running from head, down spine, of what appears to be a hairless brownish grey pig body, with classic thin whippy tail.
#Hartebeest -some great shots of this animal.
like a painting! #wildebeest
Great #bird-of-prey ? in flight capture.
#hot-air-balloon
#Giraffe My guess is, it is reaching to feed from the leaves?
#serval
#wildebeest ---which is my best side?!!
#Giraffe nearly missed it, as doing good tree impression. Tail waving about gave it away!!
#hyena-spotted #hyena one on the rocks, one half hidden, sat in the grass beyond the rocks.
#birds - in flight in background
I'd guess its another Zebra, the ear looks matching, also Zebra are herd animals, so its likely that others will be nearby.
#Lion having a wash
Wow, great capture!
Kori-bustard
#lion paw
I wondered if the face was more dog like, maybe spotted Hyena.
Reedbuck I'd guess- the ears seem a little narrower, and can't see any dark around top of head, face and ears, that bush buck have.
What a great capture of a munching #Impala Buck.
Yes looks like a #porcupine
Flies follow buffalo around alot, its why you see Ox-peckers perched on them, plenty of food for them.
correct. 😃
thin striped #zebra
#Buffalo with an #ox-pecker on his back
I've only ever seen friends pet Fischers and couldn't remember them having the tail bar pattern, Thanks for the correction.
Sadly not, its a #Reedbuck see shortly before ASG000yxgb
Sadly not a Civet, its a #warthog ASG000qyzi
My guess, cause of its markings on the tail its a #Nyasa-Lovebird -Agapornis lilianae, rather than Fischers.
#spotted-Hyena yes
whispering sweet gnuothings!!
#zebra with broken/deformed ear?
#Elephant sniffing dung
#Elephant s with calves
almost missed the #bird in the right hand foreground!
#butterflies
really nice #Topi capture
#butterfly
5 #Giraffe
Looks like it could be a Bronze Mannikin also called Bronze Munia
#Eland calf
#wildebeest kneeling on front legs going head to head
#Zebra with damaged ear
I'd guess they are flies and usually (but not always) lots of flies equal Buffalo nearby.
#Buffalo I'd guess
one from a previous season #Aardwolf not dark enough to be Striped Hyena sadly.
Looks a bit like my bengal x, house cat!
Nice #Hyena head shot.
one of the species of Oxpecker. they are to be found on a few animals in the Serengeti not just 'Ox' but Giraffe, Zebra for example.
Sadly not rhino but #Buffalo see ASG000z8oo
Looks like a couple of #Vulture s at least.
and doing a good impression of a tree!!
He is likely scenting the air, seeing if she is in season.
#Steinbuck #Steinbok
?
#Cheetah orange eye and black line from eye down side of nose.
it is an elephant, ASG000y4ao is just over a minute later.
ASG000y7uu
the pale sandy animal being chased is a wildebeest calf
Yes please, add all the animal species you see including bird- other.
Made me jump! After looking at the screen closely to ID long distant animals/part of animals-I certainly wasn't expecting photo2! 😉
Must be a Wildebeest, as this is few minutes later: ASG000nzxu and Mr Wildebeest walks past camera.
possibly a butterfly or tiny bird
#Impala are in the area, check out the next capture just over a minute later ASG000n250 and few minutes previously ASG000n24y
seeing things that arn't there! thought saw spotted Hyena tracking something in tree-but its just grasses-that appear to be a head moving!
possibly a Reedbuck
#Elephant. With its trunk bending around and its putting grass/vegetation in its mouth, you can also see the tusks.
I can see stripes and horse shape, so based on that, my guess is they would be #Zebra
#Impala with young
#bat-earred-fox
classic #warthog skin and course hair. see ASG0011bvz few minutes before.
yes they are guinea fowl
the tail of a bird, maybe something like a Barn owl or similar
A good tip, on felines the genitals are not on the belly but alot nearer the tail +alot smaller, so based on this, we can rule out a cat.
see ASG000pvjq + ASG000pvjl -latter is just over 10mins before and shows the head of this male hartebeest.
neither #Hartebeest
#zebra with damaged stripes, looks like it survived getting a large wound on its side.
I can see 2 #warthog and some Impala in background.
it reminds me of the inside of an elephants mouth, cause of the whitish ridged area looks a bit like elephant tooth, but could be anything.
3 #giraffe
2 #scratching
strange #elephant pic
#wildebeest #scratching
#Elephant s and calves
Laughing Zebra!! Great clear shot, showing the stripes really well.
#zebra in the rain
looks like a statue.
Posing for the camera. Wonderful capture!
#superb-starling
#lappet-faced-vulture #vulture
I like image 2 showing the Eagles talons.
just as clicked finish, realised actually there was something, a giraffe right in the distance....
#raining
#hartebeest head shot
#wildebeest with broken horn
#White-Headed-Buffalo-Weaver
#insect #butterfly
#bugs #insects #ants
Aardvark
#bugs #ants #insects
could be swarm of bees
LOL 😃 very true
Part of the fun, is guessing, its also why we're classifying and not computers, cause dispite getting some wrong, humans are better at it.
I know what you mean. Some shots you scratch your head, trying to work out what bits on view, let alone what animal that bit might belong to.
His heads lowered. Bulls have furry brown n black 'fringe' that goes part way down face, the cows don't. I'd guess hes old mature too.
#leopard in the tree
something/one shaking the camera!
Definitely Eland, Male
looks like #Serval, short tail, spotty, carrying something in its mouth, maybe why the guinea fowl haven't gone, its already got its dinner.
#Hippo with a mouth full of grass
#zebra . One with a much shorter horizontal rump pattern.
munching on the move
Looks to have large ears, and spots are quite visible. #Serval
I'd say your correct about it being a human.
yes #Guinea-fowl
#Porcupine closeup
freaky, looks unreal.
leopard or Serval difficult to see the overal size
2 #zebra with a bird dropping or bug on the camera
nice close up capture
Sadly not, its too tall for a rhino and wrong body shape, PHald is correct its an #Elephant
#baboon
#Serval the elongated spots into stripes at the shoulder end help with id, genets have a dark continous stripe down the back, not broken.
Impala.
Looks like a small deer like animal, maybe a Dik Dik
I've say some species of Hornbill but which I couldn't tell, as can't see the colouring and don't know them by silhouettes.
#bugs walking across mud
Hartlaub's Bustard
wildebeest
#bugs
looks quite heavy set, so I'd say Buffalo
#Hartlaub's-Bustard #Bustard
the lone #zebra
#web #bug #fly
Yes a wildebeest as rib66xyz points out this animal has thin legs, Rhinos on the other hand have very thick legs.
Looks like a Crowned-Plover/Lapwing
Press play----I feel queezy! LOL
#Leopard up a tree
looks like all plant/grasses
think its grass/plant waving about
#wildebeest, they have blonde manes hanging down from their necks
its a waterbuck, the rather furry coat is classic sign
fighting male #giraffes
lunging #giraffe
Its a #Hippo face,
funny captured poses of an impala
#wildebeest being a bit friendly
#wildebeest laying down on its side, you see its tail swish on photo 3
#elephant #scratching
Looks like she just gave birth, yes
correct its a mongoose a #white-tailed-mongoose
Eland Yoga
Eland yoga! look at ASG0011qxj next
#Eland by the look of the horn
#zebra resting
looks like a Mongoose running and since there were Zebra in the area I guess it could be a bit of hair from Zebra,
#Southern-Ground-Hornbill youngster.
#Black-shouldered-kite?
#Black-Headed-Heron #Heron
#Jackel
nice capture of #Impala
The contours of the neck/chest are that of an Impala, harebeest have a different chest shape.
do you mean the white middle bottom of picture? if so they are flowers, heres another view of them ASG0011hs1
Yes an #Aardvark
#Hartebeest #Scratching
#hippo with blood trickling down its neck/shoulder.
#elephant. one in background #scratching itself with its trunk.
theres an elephant hanging about
#elephant herd
one of those #zebra with the spotty stripes!
#smoke #fire
fault on image 1
#Grey-Breasted-Francolin
#grey-breasted-Francolin
Wow! grey skies!
#rain
#bugs running over tree trunk
bugs crawling over tree trunk on left hand side
#Zebra 4-5 in background 7-8 overal, group at back its hard to decide if theres 2 or 3 + one moving+ one other side of tree, + 3 close.
3 #Topi at the front but impossible to tell what animal/s the eye shine on the right belong to.
yes, looks like a Dragonfly.
#White-Storks feeding. Smoke/fire causes many creatures to flee, including insects, reptiles, small rodents which are all on the Storks menu
possibly a reedbuck
Seems to be a thin black line on the top of this animal, I think its likely an #Impala
A bird flying
got a red line this time, first time I saw this effect, on first glance thought it was some blood running down the camera! thankfully not.
#Scratching #tommy
Lovely shot
#camera malfunction?
#Baboon Baby riding on an adults back
piglets can't be too old
A #Buffalo's behind
#vultures
Nice
Bird possible a white bellied #Bustard
#ostrich in distance look like walking trees! LOL
#Lioness close up
#Reedbuck black spot under ear gives it away
#Wildcat
shiney bluish green top orange and white under = #Superb-Starling
#magpie-shrike
The sky colour is so unreal looking.
#grass
#Black-Headed-Heron is my guess too.
#bug #insect running on log centre bottom
#ostrich close up
#reedbuck- black spot under ear.
white bird on right. Could that be a black shouldered kite?
#hartebeest n calf
#bug
a woolly looking #wildebeest
ASG000ms8a and ASG000ms88 shows what is around in the moments before and after this capture. they are Wildebeest
#elephant calves
#fire #smoke
huge box of batteries, suppose you must got though loads in these camera traps
not a local boy see ASG0010mfa
Yes a #hippo
possibly a bird
some kind of bird, not sure what specie, but maybe its something like a barn owl
so doesn't leave too many options, just try to do your best by elimination of what it is unlikely, often u r left with a couple of options
buffalo is what I would have gone for, its a large animal, heavy hind leg, so rules out all small animals, not shaped like elephants etc.
you don't have to be 100% right every time, see message http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000006/discussions/DSG0000dxb
#wildebeest stamping its hoof
rainbow effect
#starling #bird
nice #impala and calf image
looks like elephant herd, especially the flapping ears
I think, I'd go for Blk-backed Jackal too, just based on the way the black on the tail goes.
I ought to finally go bed I think! I just clicked nothing there when meant to click on 3 zebra.zzzzzzzzzz oops!
#Buffalo in a cloud of flies
ASG000rf0v another view.
I was thinking, maybe he's got something going on, cause that didn't look normal, compare to other Buffalo bulls.
also cheetahs have more orangy eyes and Leopards greenish. #Leopard
#Leopard lovely leopard with its impressive rosette patterned coat
#Leopard cause it has rosettes, Cheetahs don't, they have solid spots.
#Zebra middle ones defecating!
Ear edge also looks like wildcat/Serval, also Cheetah have dark line dividing left and right forehead n runs down between the eyes.
http://www.thecatsite.com/content/type/61/id/143260/width/350/height/700/flags/LL wildcat can show a blk line also dark stripe under eye
Wildebeest
Coqui Francolin?
#human . 3 humans
could the white animal be a dog? it does look like a dogs head and appears to be wagging its tail.
#spotted-Hyena pic 1 the terror face.
#spotted Hyena
Yoga practising #Tommy!!
yes #Spotted-Hyena
definitely a classic wildebeest rump n tail
probably grasses/plant
#warthog tusk
check out ASG000pebd to see whos there! 😃
human see ASG000olar captured few seconds before
I like pic 3 of this #cheetah best!
yes some Zebra do have spots. check out this image ASG000akfe someone posted this in a prevous season.
#buffalo or 2 resting and an #oxpecker and loads of #flies typical of Buffalo and why the birds hang about, plenty of flies/bugs to eat.
#Guinea fowl (haha!! I first wrote guinea pig! oops cause I just been feeding mine some veggies.....
possibly, difficult to tell, as the foliage throws a spotty pattern onto it in certain pics, but not in others.
ooops!!
#interacting #wildebeest
Elephant shadow see ASG000rsaj
lovely picture of a Dik Dik
violet #zebra !
#Hyena-spotted
wow! that was a lucky capture. found some interesting info about it at: http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/8789/0
#Eland close-up
almost missed the 3rd bird taking a ride on the back of the adult zebra!
#Impala the black ear tips and the black spots on the youngsters hind legs, help identify. can be hard when half the animal is bleached out
Middle ones pregnant too, her belly moves sideways. also on rump of one on the right, a scar that slices the stripe in half, lucky escape!
you can see the marks/scars on its skin
Warthog
rump of a #Tommy
Wildcat possibly or Serval, not easy call, but ears look too like from smaller cat species
#Secretary Bird landing
I've noticed a few with a wonky horn, the other missing or short, wondered if it was just one of those things, damage or lack of nutrition?
black ear tips likely Impala
#Warthog --too small to be Rhino
Possibly Dik-Dik cause its coat colour on it back and rump is greyish brown (agouti like ticking) n has a more rounded rump seen in dik-dik
I'm wondering if thats a big cat in the distance (by grey tree in centre of pic), behind DikDik, as its not there in other images?
#Dik-Dik yes their nose/mouth shape is distinct from other species.
#lion yes
I believe its a grass seed head. see ASG000q6ne
#elephant in distance on right handside, just see trunk n tusks.
#Aardwolf
#Grants see few minutes later ASG000siro also in pic 3-lack stripe through the eye helps id a Grants Gazelle, Impala don't have eye stripe.
yes aardvark
#wildebeest nice clear image
#wildebeest close up of horns
love the in sync moves of the 2 main Tommys
image 3 reveals there is a baby #wildebeest amoung the resting adults
check out ASG000trs3 with the buffalo wandering through and showing a clearer cobweb still on the right.
lovely capture, almost unreal looking.
I love watching new babies on wildlife shows, trying to get used to using its trunk, so it can pick some grass and get it into its mouth ok.
a wet young elephant, look like its been blowing water over itself, it takes a baby a while to learn how to use its trunk really well.....
I think it might be a Reedbuck
#Topi its a bit like a Hartebeest in colour and shape but has some black markings, so helps distingush between the two animals
#bird tail feathers
#wildebeest herd with calves
looks like a cobweb on the right side.
with the ears back n posture possibly more likely nipping, could be it went too near her foal see ASG000sle9.
yes a waterbuck
#Scratching. If anyone comes across an animal scratching please hashtag, someone was collecting data/images on scratching animals. Thanks
possibly Baboon
......and you can rule out older Grants, because they have very white rumps and no black line down the tail as Impala have
Classic impala rump yes., also no black side stripe so can rule out tommy n young Grants........
#Hare, yes
#Zebra grinning! LOL
#bug #fly
ASG000q49y minute or so before.
#Warthog hairs
Rude Zebra!! sticking tongue in and out!! LOL
#lioness
#lion male
mane of #lion male see ASG000putj
#Eland herd.
The tail is thin n seems banded, Leopard tails are bit thicker and start to have rosettes appear, I'd go for #Cheetah.
Is this #wildebeest peeing?
Ouch! thats looks painful thorns right on the nose of this #Grants
very nosey #warthog!!
#bird
#black-winged-lapwing
african mourning dove?
#giraffes
#spotted-hyena slope of back usually a good clue
possibly warthog

something wrong with pic 1!
singing zebra!
cute!
that been me, I'd have stubbed toes on that log+got grass wedged btween sole+my foot by now or sharp stone! ot sandals n me never mixed! 😉
open-toed sandals! A few on local allotments-wear O.T. Sandals-how they avoid injury to their toes-when using the fork/spade-I don't know!
Is it a strange moon/planet or a giant alien mother ship!! LOL..... just a odd oval caused by the sun hitting the camera lens
#Reedbuck? couldnt see black spot under ear but nearest looking, mother and fawn

Whats the small animal on the right? iwith grey n black tuft ended long tail-grey lower legs-no white on rump. classified as calf Wildebeest
#baboon troop
looks like it might have caught something, as their is a brown blob in photo 1 of maybe a bird/rodent
you do see dust devils, as you have hashtag them, someone might be interested in looking at the photos for research purposes.
(read my post below first) addition info. there is a post in Discussions that cover reasons why its no problem if u don't get 100% correct.
you pick which of them u feel its most likely, don't worry if u get it wrong, as ur answer will b pooled with others that saw this photo.
speedy Gongazelles!!
They look like feathers to me too
http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG000s8uo this is your culprit i'd guess
possibly a shrike?
#Secretary-bird with nesting material
#bugs #Buffalos n #oxpeckers
#Zebra foal n nosey mum

yes sleepy lion
its thorn bush right close to the camera, giving distorted view so appears like an animals ears
its a thorn bush right close to the camera, giving appearance of an animal
looks like a small human shadow on the ground!
I thought maybe its a long necked bird of some kind, but now wondering if its a close up of a giraffe leg! LOL
possibly 2 Grants in distance and a Warthog closer
too big for civet, its a #Zebra
A #Dik-Dik in the daylight, they have quite unusual shaped faces.
sky gazing #Tommy gazelle
I'd have guessed Wildebeest
mucky dark fur, usually means a mucky Buffalo.
impressive set of horns on this Impala
looks like it could be!! LOL thats one for the funny pics
#lion #cubs #nursing
cute #lion-cubs n #radio-collared #lioness

#lioness #radio-collared
I've added to my nosy parkers photo collection
What is he doing??? got some headphones on-- maybe a funky beat - doing the sit down boogie! ;0
possibly a small bird species in the grass, if you grid pic in squares 4x4 bird is in 3along 4down! (or square 15)
Not seen many Dik-Dik but plenty Reedbuck, but something right away stopped me reaching for Reedbuck option, nice to get a Dik Dik.
both are herd animals. With more eyes its less likely you'll be the one that gets picked off by a predator.
I picked #dik dik cause there is no black spot below ear n rump was more rounded n face seemed more like dik diks.
lovely pic of an #Eland and a #butterfly
look a little horse like, so I'd guess zebra
I'd go for buffalo
sunset
nearly missed the #kori-bustard
lovely cheetah
I agree too, a Mongoose pack
the eye (photo3) is rather cat -(cheetah) like.
#vervet-monkey being nosy

its the anchor butter ad with wildebeest instead of cows!! LOL
looks like another in the grass just under the side on facing wildebeest
Hoopoes have orange on head/chest.... too
#grey-backed-Fiscal (Shrike)
the fire has benefits, it clears the ground, so seeds can germinate and a new crop of grass can grow benefiting the animals for example
Cheetah.. spots too large, but also as moments before was this image ASG000rtav. 2 Cheetahs, its a tough call though.
I see the same..an ostrich hen........
is baboon like..
it is a nice shot! there have been some really lovely shots this season.
i'd agree Tommy
wow ! lovely blue sky, with dragonflies,?
agree with looks like a painting, really lovely
Lazy day!
RRRROOAAOOWW!!!
http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG000nzjo this was an image, i've just found of a few minutes later.
the 'boy' bits are rather wildebeest like! if it were a lion, it would have something very seriously wrong with it, ...😃
#Grants as eye stripe goes both sides of eye
rumps say #Grants, must be youngish as still have darkish stripe
#Mongoose
a lovely capture

try guess best you can, read this post if you haven't already http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000006/discussions/DSG0000dxb
sadly its seedng grass heads very close to camera+the grass is over exposed, start ASG00pdr2, n 'legs' at ASG00pdrp make it quite misleading
B4 night fell ASG000pdr1,then pdr2-many similar including and beyond pdsb-some look like legs, its grass. although pdse has hot air balloon!
Ghost! arrgh!! LOL
oh lovely!!! I was just eating some jumbo sultanas, when I found this one!!
high five!!
#hornbill latin Bucorvus leadbeateri
classic aardvark shape
1 of my mistakes! any guesses? I thought colour+furry=sptd Hyena, but is it a grey Hyena ear or a horn of a wildebeest n its mane)??? umm???
shows how difficult it can be to guess the right species at times, but great fun learning and guessing though, I got some wrong recently2 😃
#Eland possibly. An image in my horned species collection taken approx minutey after and theres an Eland in that one.
Yes lying lion.

#wildebeest mum n calf, what a lovely scene.
#Genet, if you zoom right in, you can see the banded tail, black legs.
Looks like a #Guinea-fowl head to me

#birds #superb-starlings #butterflies

the darker head could suggest Ruppells... but its not an easy call.
#Magpie Shrike is my guess too
#White-headed-Buffalo-Weavers
#warthogs
#Scatching
I'd have guessed Baboon n baby just cause of the shape the larger one makes.
#leopard
Looks like the lioness with her paw over her nose is saying 'phew thats nasty! Did you have to!!! LOL
Buffalo, not bulky enough for a rhino
Lovely image
yes #Grey-Backed-Fiscal
#bird in tree #zebra with interesting 'spot' marking, an about fully grown, but still youngster, cause of brown is my guess.

#Topi

ASG001x6gv could it be a fluffy area on a Hyena? I was looking at my Hyena and Aardwolf collection CSGS000188 from page 30+

not bad image, just a Wildebeest walking really close to camera trip. black vertical strips on brownish body in photo one helps identify.
#Topi

Definitely a Leopard.
you can see why they have the spots, if you look at the dried grass just below it, it looks rather like a spotty pelt!
lovely #Cheetah

warthog? digging/rooting in grass on right.

#Topi
don't miss the feeding #Impala (right side, mid way down!)

#scratching
Wrong colouring for Hartebeest, #Wildebeest
They may attack cubs, if they come across them by accident, don't think they actively seek them out. Please scientists, correct me if wrong.
#impala
possibly long strands of dry grass/plant, stems
oh ...! having finally decided how many #Tommies, I pressed finish and realised, I still hadn't yet classify the little bird on the branch!

#Grants
#Tommys grazing
compare ASG000pfo5.
Buffalo behinds/sides have been mistaken for Rhino's, its not always easy when you can't see key features.
They are too long. have a look at this image of a Rhino, ASG0005ujl
You can see the rhino is lower to the ground. hope this helps.

Youngsters are brownish, but how long before they moult, I'm not sure, it might not have moulted baby coat or if its adult- likely Leucistic
Thanks Phald. I thought it was. I think, I should have worded it 'what bird?'

#Grants
Noted white patch of fur above black on rump.
I went with Guinea Fowl

The ear shape and colour is wrong for a lion.

It is nice....
#collar
it seems to be hovering?
Nice capture
possibly a bird of prey eating?
Looks like a bird, not sure what though.
Domestic cows yes. the Masai bring them out to feed on the grasses.
#Aardvark

#dust-devil
#dust-devil

#cows
yes elephant truck
#Hartebeest yoga practice!
#Lion -Male rolling around
#bug of some kind?
#Zebra. When I zoomed in, they showed their stripes, its just a trickof the lighting, falling on them, making them appear different species.
#scratching #Tommy
#Tommy
great behind view of an #Impala, showing classic Impala rump patterning.
looks like the sun is highlighting a Wildebeest or Zebra tail.
nice image though.
#fire
Yes, A larger amount of white on rump+thicker black edges to the white, id's her. The darkish side stripe's common in younger animals.
#kori Bustard
Hartebeest, I like the 2 that are standing facing each other! -under the trees behind the first group, almost missed them.
#cows
#cows
I believe, either Buffalo or Human, is acceptable, then goto discuss to hashtag #cows -Although some have #cattle - its #cows thats correct.
#fire -very close to camera!
#Dik-Dik
#zebra train
Buffalo have large raggy edged ears, a warthogs are smaller and don't have huge horns, but the..

can someone varify the 3 larger animals on the right? I decided Topi in the end.
#Tommy yoga
I'd guess, by the 'spikey' head do, and black rump and 2 long legs, this has to be a #Secretary Bird, in front of the foggy camera lens!
Only just seen the previous picture with post about the cattle needing to be tagged as #cow.
#cattle
#Masai cattle
happy #zebra!
#cheetah
error occured on pic2 in classify page, although seems ok via the above 'play'. Picture vanished and the box elongated each time 'played'?
nice #zebra capture + #Tommy herd in distance

#Buffalo
#Impala
#buffalo
What a great capture of a munching #Impala Buck.
Yes looks like a #porcupine
Flies follow buffalo around alot, its why you see Ox-peckers perched on them, plenty of food for them.
correct. 😃
#fire
thin striped #zebra
#Buffalo with an #ox-pecker on his back
#Zebra
I've only ever seen friends pet Fischers and couldn't remember them having the tail bar pattern, Thanks for the correction.
Sadly not, its a #Reedbuck see shortly before ASG000yxgb
#porcupine
Sadly not a Civet, its a #warthog ASG000qyzi
My guess, cause of its markings on the tail its a #Nyasa-Lovebird -Agapornis lilianae, rather than Fischers.
#scratching
#spotted-Hyena yes

#zebra with broken/deformed ear?
#Elephant sniffing dung
#warthog

really nice #Topi capture
#butterfly

#spotted-Hyena
the pale sandy animal being chased is a wildebeest calf
#Topi
possibly a Reedbuck
#Elephant. With its trunk bending around and its putting grass/vegetation in its mouth, you can also see the tusks.
#Wildebeest

#serval
LOL 😃 very true
Part of the fun, is guessing, its also why we're classifying and not computers, cause dispite getting some wrong, humans are better at it.
I know what you mean. Some shots you scratch your head, trying to work out what bits on view, let alone what animal that bit might belong to.
His heads lowered. Bulls have furry brown n black 'fringe' that goes part way down face, the cows don't. I'd guess hes old mature too.
#leopard in the tree
something/one shaking the camera!
Definitely Eland, Male
#vulture
looks like #Serval, short tail, spotty, carrying something in its mouth, maybe why the guinea fowl haven't gone, its already got its dinner.

Looks like a Crowned-Plover/Lapwing

nice capture of #Impala
The contours of the neck/chest are that of an Impala, harebeest have a different chest shape.

#cheetah
possibly a bird
some kind of bird, not sure what specie, but maybe its something like a barn owl
so doesn't leave too many options, just try to do your best by elimination of what it is unlikely, often u r left with a couple of options
buffalo is what I would have gone for, its a large animal, heavy hind leg, so rules out all small animals, not shaped like elephants etc.
you don't have to be 100% right every time, see message http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000006/discussions/DSG0000dxb
#wildebeest stamping its hoof

Ear edge also looks like wildcat/Serval, also Cheetah have dark line dividing left and right forehead n runs down between the eyes.

almost missed the 3rd bird taking a ride on the back of the adult zebra!
#Wildcat
Wildcat possibly or Serval, not easy call, but ears look too like from smaller cat species
#Secretary Bird landing
I've noticed a few with a wonky horn, the other missing or short, wondered if it was just one of those things, damage or lack of nutrition?
black ear tips likely Impala
#Warthog --too small to be Rhino
#Wildebeest
#Grants
Possibly Dik-Dik cause its coat colour on it back and rump is greyish brown (agouti like ticking) n has a more rounded rump seen in dik-dik
I'm wondering if thats a big cat in the distance (by grey tree in centre of pic), behind DikDik, as its not there in other images?
#Dik-Dik yes their nose/mouth shape is distinct from other species.
#lion yes

I believe its a grass seed head. see ASG000q6ne

check out ASG000trs3 with the buffalo wandering through and showing a clearer cobweb still on the right.
lovely capture, almost unreal looking.
#wildebeest herd with calves
looks like a cobweb on the right side.

you do see dust devils, as you have hashtag them, someone might be interested in looking at the photos for research purposes.
(read my post below first) addition info. there is a post in Discussions that cover reasons why its no problem if u don't get 100% correct.
you pick which of them u feel its most likely, don't worry if u get it wrong, as ur answer will b pooled with others that saw this photo.

I'd go for buffalo

the fire has benefits, it clears the ground, so seeds can germinate and a new crop of grass can grow benefiting the animals for example
Cheetah.. spots too large, but also as moments before was this image ASG000rtav. 2 Cheetahs, its a tough call though.
I see the same..an ostrich hen........

sadly its seedng grass heads very close to camera+the grass is over exposed, start ASG00pdr2, n 'legs' at ASG00pdrp make it quite misleading

#hornbill latin Bucorvus leadbeateri

1 of my mistakes! any guesses? I thought colour+furry=sptd Hyena, but is it a grey Hyena ear or a horn of a wildebeest n its mane)??? umm???
shows how difficult it can be to guess the right species at times, but great fun learning and guessing though, I got some wrong recently2 😃
#Eland possibly. An image in my horned species collection taken approx minutey after and theres an Eland in that one.
