Snapshot Serengeti Talk
A fine pair of cheetahs.
#selfie #hippo
Thanks for the info - I guess it probably is tucking in then!
Is this vervet monkey feeding? What do they eat?
I see an earth mound (termite mound or roots of fallen tree) + something small (bird?) moving.
Actually a wildebeest I think, as are the animals behind.
Not a zebra - the shadow makes frame 2 look more stripy than it really is, but frames 1&3 would look clearly striped if it were a zebra.
It does look a bit odd, but I think 'tail' is actually pale beard of a wildebeest - with lots of others in the background.
No markings on side or legs, prominent shoulder, thin tail - I vote Hartebeest.
Mongoose perhaps? Looks like the tail in the 3rd ID photo.
Giraffe tail maybe?
#selfie
Size & colour suggest Thomsons gazelle.
I ID this as a Tommy, because I can't see what else it could be... but the shape & markings of his head do look a bit odd.
Waterbuck?
Thomsons gazelle I think. Either missing a horn, or possibly lined up so exactly that we can only see one.
I vote for hippo!
Wildebeest
#selfie I look best in profile....
Zebra seems to be startled by the camera!
I think they are young warthogs - head/ear/tail all look right but no tusks yet.
Thomsons gazelle doing its ostrich impression!
Sleeping lion!
I don't think ears and eye markings are big enough for dikdik - I vote for reedbuck.
Unlikely - probably a wildebeest, their rears can look very horse-like.
Cute baby!
#selfie frame 1
Hartebeest (dirty!) with ?wildebeest in the background.
Looks like a tommy gazelle.
I think it's an oxpecker bird hanging on to the back leg.
Vervet monkey
That rhino looks like a warthog to me...
Wildebeest? Suggested by shagginess, grey stripes and size of animal in frame 3.
Actually 5 zebra (stripes vsible if you zoom in) & 2 somethiing else... Grant's gazelles, maybe.
I think they are wildebeest, not cattle. The one nearest the camera s a youngster - cute little horns and tufty hair.
Looks like it!
Wildebeest with that elegant beard (and too tall for a warthog).
I think it is another Thompson's - size is right, and dark band seems to come into view in third frame.
I hope mum is nearby!
#warthog . Compare rear views in 3rd ID photo, and you can see its tusks.
Sleeeeeeeep!
Wildebeest I reckon
Warthog!
Just magnificent!
Looks like #spottedhyena neck & ear
Gazelle dance class!
A fine #eagle
Cute baby reedbuck
I think so too, in frame 1 there is the beginnings of a dewlap.
Who is this with a baby? And what's that on the right?
#zebra #spots Stripes on near one a bit disrupted, far one has spots. Never seen anything like this before!
Zebra mane or wildebeest beard?
I'm thinking young reedbuck, on the basis of the black nose & eye shape & baby looks. No black spot under ear though... expert view please!
Looks like it - black patch on foreleg very suggestive
I think it's too tall for an aardvark - I would guess a Thomsons gazelle.
It's a log - see e.g. the much more interesting pic Image ASG00131ev (lion & ioness) an hour ago on the recent objects board.
What's tall, golden, & has black spots underneath???
Precise position of gazelle makes it look like distant ostrich is riding on its back
Hyena?
Too tall for warthog - the item on sizes here: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/boards/BSG0000006/discussions/DSG0000xe1 is very helpful.
Is this a secretary bird without the long plumes?
Maybe a vervet monkey? Face slightly towards us in 1, back of head in 2&3 ?
It's a zebra - has to be with those stripes. Close ups of zebra undersides are remarkably wrinkly!
I'm baffled by the object bottom right...
Looks like hartebeest to me, and right sort of height.
All is revealed in the third frame. In other all-black cases, should it be identified as something (anything!) or nothing?
Elephant tail?
#zebra #rollinginthedust
From colour & size I would guess back of a Thompsons
#Dustbath for baby
Fur & spots ... but I can't work out what part of an animal it is. Any anatomical suggestions?
I also saw it first like this - but then saw something very similar in daylight, when it definitely looked like grass.
#paw - but which cat does it belong to?
So so cute! Is it a baby eland?
Are these #cows?
#human-not-serengeti
