Snapshot Serengeti Talk
This is a terrific image. and I appreciate the rump aid - just to verify. I can imagine offering that for all of us!
The color & furriness led me to lion, but I was trying to imagine the scene what part... glad I got it right!
cannot even guess!
pretty cool! I see the conversation. I was fooled, too. Glad to learn more.
cannot tell what this is
sunset
do not know what it is.
what a strange rainbow square effect.
I cannot see much of this creature, and made a guess at wildebeest. The stripes made me think, but I am not at all sure.
#thomsons_gazelle possibly a bat whizzing by making a blur on the camera. Since it's 2 AM, seems more likely than a bird.
#impala
beautiful
#impala, I think the guys at a distance are all the same
is this area recovering from fire or overgrazing? I marked fire, but not sure.
wildebeests? hard to see in the dark.
#wildebeest, #zebra, and something else, probably more grazers. Can only see eyes. Nobody is running, so probably not a hunt.
#wildebeests
is this a branch reflecting the flash? Looks like a stream of fire! Here be dragons.
guessing striped hyena, but it could be an aardwolf. This could be like a rohrshach test...
#wildebeest. confusing image with what appear to be nearer critters looking much smaller than farther, and some mist or dust... white edge
I might be wrong, but I think it's an aardwolf, not a striped hyena. I think I see dark on the tail and feet, and mane. hard to tell.
#wildebeest
dot of light, but I can't tell that it belongs to a critter
#zebra
the trunk of that tree reminds me of locust trees in N. America
#overexposed. If I didn't know it was Africa, I would have thought it was snowy!
how beautiful
3 #zebras, including a colt, and definitely one #wildebeest, but there are other grazers in the distance.
#wildebeests or gnight gnus
#giraffe
definitely 1 #buffalo, but I think I can see a second buffalo in the dark. Might be something else, though.
guessing from the silhouettes & statistical probabilities - some grazers on the horizon.
some sort of antelope. I am only guessing steenbok - help!
Hard to see in the dark on the right, but I think it might be a hyena, and only guessing spotted.
#wildebeest migration
cattle?? Look more like goats, but can't see clearly. Got those pied coats.
#zebra_cute_ears
Just a glimpse of an ear & neck at the bottom left of the screen, but unidentifiable, and not even sure it's an animal, though pretty sure
#human_construction, a tripod of sticks. Is this built for the camera?
herds far off, cannot ID. Nothing close.
What is that orange sign or block in lower left corner? Part of camera set up?
#giraffe #human_construction
#topi
#warthog
#zebras
#unidentifiable, really. A reflective eye in the dark at the waterhole
I think ...
I think it's wildebeests on the far right, near horizon
something else besides the #wildebeest off in the distance but i can't tell what those other critters are
so glad to know! I was not happy with my wild guess. It's a strange image
#gazelle schnoz, think it's #grants_gazelle
there may be something off on the left of the grass, but I can't tell in the blur or fog
#gazelles #thomsons_gazelles
giraffe legs?
Waiter, a side of wildebeest, please!
pretty sure it's a steenbokl
#gazelles #thomsons_gazelle I presume the 2 in the far distance, far right are the same as close & far left
#gazelle but what kind? Grants or Impala?
I think this is 6 or so wildebeests out for a nighttime stroll
#gazelle #thomsons_gazelle
#zebra and what IS that horned thing on the other side of the kopje? cattle? There is something else hidden by the rocks & herds in distance
wildebeests? hard to be sure against that sun glare, and in the distance
3 very reddish gazelles of some kind; 2 at far right and one a far left
I used to think #wildebeests were ugly but now they are really growing on me
termite mounds?
#gazelles Thomsons? just visible against the light
gazelles? something grazing off in the distance
#jackals I think they might be half grown what a great shot!
I am only guessing that this might be a jackal, but I think I see a long bushy tail. Must be a short tree though
It seems awfully hairy and furry to be a hippo!
bushbuck?
rodent? a little dot of dark shows up 1/3 of the way across the grassy area, half-way to the hill in the middle screen. It appears to move
#insect tiny yellow bar-shaped flash with black on both ends on the 3rd screen on the right
#zebras I agree - they all have the same body shape!
#zebras #gazelle
is it a warthog?
#guineafowl I presume the 3rd bird taking off is also a guineafowl since the 2 close up do not react
#impala standing guard
#elands
#unidentifiable but it looks like an edge of cloth or leather flapping a bit. I don't think it's an animal ear!
#impala herd!
resting #wildebeests on the edge of what must be a bigger herd you can just see moving in the distance
#secretarybird at far right
Is the nearby critter a #wildebeest? #gazelles
#car #human I think moving quickly behind the trees right to left. #gazelle? in the trees on left
#duiker looking at the camera.
recovering from fire?
I like knowing that they are Egyptian geese. I thought they looked goose like, but couldn't find a similar enough bird on Birds of Serengeti
#birds some kind of mating dance?
#gazelle rump - at first i thought it had to be a goat with that white & tan. But the gazelle rump display saved the day!
#wildebeests Is that 1 in front a calf? I gnu I would see young one day!
#dik-dik
#gazelle (I think) in distance against horizon. I think this is recovering from a burning.
#zebras running right to left; I see something moving left to right in distance & think its a car. 2 #rhinos maybe?
#rodent a tiny speck of bright near the brush in mid-screen, 1st shot that disappears. also this has been burnt I think.
#unclear! I finally guessed because of the tan shading to gray, but the powerful back looks lionish - but gray?
flowers!
#zebras by the tree at far right
#unclear wildebeests I am pretty sure, in for their close-up
#elephant
#gazelle(thomsons) clear rt ctr; #gazelle(grants) probably pops in far rt on screen3. Herd of something just visible left side of field
#zebra tail study
just guessing that the farther off critters are same as close up #gazelle (thomsons)
#wildebeests usually look goofy; these look wise somehow
#unidentifiable too close to camera. Somebody w/short tan hair
#buffalo
I think they are all 3 grants gazelles. #gazelles(grants) but I agree, it made me look & look again
#gazelles (grants)
I am pretty certain about #zebra on far right, and about the #hartebeest center right and pretty far right. But I'm guessing center horizon
oooh, I missed it.
#wildebeests (I think the close one may be pregnant)
#jackal I missed spotting the #hare; well done!
wildebeest?? somebody very close to the camera!
pretty sure it's wildebeests
falled over camera
#jackal
Think it's a hyena, can just barely see outline w/2 reflecting eyes.
camera battery change note
#buffalo just getting up
#zebras 2 for sure & I think the third is on the right of the screen holding still
#zebra "does this make my butt look big?"
My first #topi
#elephant ear waving on far edge of screen on a cloudy, rainy looking day
#bird in screen 1 #zebra grazing
Is this a leopard? I think I see spots, but it's hard to be sure in the shadow.
camera tilt. Pls hlp.
camera battery note #human
the greater occluded #zebra
#duiker, I think I see the dark mark on the muzzle, and can see the white underbelly. Hard to be sure.
#hyena(spotted) there may be something at the hyena's front foot, a little mammal?
#gazelles(Thomsons)
#bird(other) flying through the 2nd screen
#zebras nightowls
something tan... I guessed it might be a gazelle, but it could be a lion. I was looking at the texture of the fur and that rough section.
wow! #overexposed
#gazelles (Thomsons)
reflective eyes in the dark. #unidentifiable
#zebras dancing
#zebras and a herd of probably more zebras.
#guineafowl
1 reflective dot which might be an eye. Can't see though.
#hartebeeste We are seeing more of these - is this a new area for cameras?
#wildebeest but lots of (probably wildebeests) herds near horizon
#thomsons_gazelles
#zebras #gazelles a big herd too far for more detail than that
#otherbird 2 birds flying in 3rd screen
gorse rocks and broken branches. I looked hard hoping for a snake or bug
#wildebeests #gazelles #zebras too far for any detail, but a big mixed herd grazing near the horizon
#thomsons_gazelles and a little dust devil
#thomsons_gazelles really nice picture
lion cub?? near the left center bottom of screen
gazelles? hard to see
#zebras & something much smaller in background running, too. Gazelles?
#thomsons_gazelle

lion male? I think I am seeing a mane on the far right, in the shade, but not hashtag positive. Whoever it is, is panting in the heat.
can't tell what I am seeing on left, near bottom of screen. Is that woody fibbage or is it an animal that is holding still?
Something is moving in the grass just beyond the central tree, but can't see it. Just see the grass move. #unidentifiable.
bushbuck doe? not sure! hard to ID but it's neither of the 2 gazelles.
buffalo? pretty sure, but not hashtag positive. Looks like it is being lasered, an effect of the camera flash
#hartebeest great shot!
#unidentifiable reflective eyes in the dark. i guessed zebras, but don't know
pretty sure this is a warthog - the bristly back
#wildebeests #gazelles
I have no idea what these critters are moving against the horizon. Might be elephants? I guessed wildebeests coz so much common
there must be more off screen! #zebra
