Snapshot Serengeti Talk
Something odd there.
Right hand edge?
One sat between the trees. One sat on the rocks.
'Bob': Here's your feline in daylight: a pile of wood!
Left, 3 O'clock: White ear tuft?
In the middle of the picture?
Is that hartbeest under the tree?
Something cat like in the middle of the picture?
To the right of the big tree in the middle: ?
The eyes look too front facing to be an impala?
Could be fire, may be a dust storm.
Note how well their camouflage matches the trees.
Many areas have animal looking features: Take a copy of every scene when blank, then you can compare them: Still there; it's not an animal.
They are in many captures and usually under the same trees, yet the trees in the distance would seam to offer the darker shade.
Then wouldn't a more appropriate category be: 'domestic' ?
It's a dog, but there's no category for it.
Centre, just in from the left hand trees?
Left, centre, right of the two trees?
The warthog ears turns into a branch!
Bottom, right: Something standing?
Bottom: two ears?
Right-hand side: Head
Centre right: Something with its tail up?
Why are so many pictures so grossly overexposed, it's not the standard expected from modern cameras.
Centre of picture?
Centre/up in picture.
Top left?
Something stripy at 9'Oclock. Or a seed head!
Looks too plump to be an impala?
#Classifying? For your research is this 10-50 wildebeest moving and eating. Or is it 6 Moving and 10-50 Eating?
Are there two animals here interacting?
Looks like a group of spotted animals
In the first picture right centre.
Looks like something in the bottom right hand corner?
What are the dots of light in the background? Luminous insects?
A great pose showing every angle, better than the first one in the Thomies mug shots.
Compared to wilderbeests Zebras are seldom seen sitting down.
Other animals in the far left.
It's something, I think?
A typical night shot with most of the light at the front. If the flash was pointed up a bit that dot of light might reveal a silhouette.
Two elands coming in shot from the left?
There is something small at the side of the one on the right. A calf?
Wildebeests in the background.
I've just seen a later capture: They are wildebeests.
Two hyenas in the background, stalking this deer?
Not sure on this one.
Right, centre, something stood there?
Is that an animal crouched in front of the bush? And is there a bird to the right?
Thanks, I took it as more leopard size than cat size!
A Genet probably not, but what it is I don't know.
I cant discern any movement, so this could be bushes, or it could be 200+ wilderbeasts.
I thought a mongoose was a mongoose, so with no stripes this couldn't be one! As they say: never assume or take anything for granted.
Not a honey badger, but what?
After the 'nothing there' option we need a 'something there' option for images like this that are just too vague to identify.
There are several captures of this animal. It seams to be suffering. Wouldn't Hyenas smell this?
