Snapshot Serengeti Talk
Yes, a serval on the right. This is one of the spots where you often see one around.
Probably wildebeests, going by how they're crowding together.
#leopard
Great close-up shot of a #buffalo. I almost missed out on the #giraffe in the background.
Nice! #vervetmonkey group and #guineafowl in the same shot!
It's a white-bellied #bustard 😃
I was eyeing the elephants there on the left, when suddenly, #baboon 😮
#jackal
It's a Grant's #gazelle 😃
Is there something up there, or is it just catkins?
#lion snoozefest 😄
Adult male... note the horns 😃
It's a #wildebeest
This looks too big for a dik-dik... could it be a duiker?
Nice one of a black-backed #jackal
#dikdik
Not sure what I'm seeing... could this be a lion? I don't think I've ever seen a night shot of one.
Most likely it is the tail of a bird perched on top of the camera... you'll come across more captures like this here eventually.
#bird #crowned-lapwing
The background animals are #wildebeest.
You usually won't find buffaloes and other big animals standing close to each other.
Most likely ID is buffalo. Hippos are rarely seen during the day, and warthogs are smaller.
Yes, that's a whole bunch of wildebeests. They travel in really big herds.
This is a #springhare, a small creature that looks a bit like a cross between a rabbit and a kangaroo, with a long black-tipped tail.
No, that's a Grant's... very easy to tell by the white crescent-shaped mark on the butt. Also, their tails are mostly white.
I can see two buffaloes here... the one in the background is eating.
Several zebras in the background, and probably two of them up in front to the left as well, standing head to tail like they often do.
Most likely these are gazelles.
Most likely a Thomson's gazelle lying down for a rest. They hang out near this tree a lot.
The one to the very left is a Thomson's, the others are all Grant's. Note that the Thomson's has a completely black tail.
To me it looks like they're all zebras, none of the other animals of that size would look as white-ish from a distance.
No, Thomson's... different tail, plus black side stripe.
#aardwolf
I like this one... everyone crowding into the shady spot. 😃
It's a #wildebeest... they tend to stand rather close to the cameras at times.
#hyena grooming... because even that shaggy, moth-eaten look needs maintenance. 😉
(Also, bird behind it... might be a grouse?)
Wildebeest up front, zebras in the background.
Bat-eared fox or aardwolf? Not sure whether these guys are striped or not...
These are #waterbuck, they're quite furry indeed. The one in the back is a youngster.
It's a bunch of #wildebeest.... they're the only ones who have that shaggy "beard" and the horse-like tails.
Not much to go on, but to me these look like #serval ears - they're black on the backside with a wide horizontal white band across.
Going by colour, I'd say it's a wildebeest.
Bustard yes, but it actually is either a black-bellied bustard or a Hartlaub's. The head has different markings.
More likely a #dikdik with those very spindly legs and the colouration.
But what's this peeking up from back there? Could this be a dik-dik?
Could be anything really. Most likely it's just a piece of vegetation being blown about by the wind though.
Herd of #wildebeest, to be more exact.
These species don't hybridize... just a bunch of plain ole #wildebeest
These are two #springhare ... small creatures with a long tail, and looking a bit like a cross between a rabbit and a kangaroo.
You mean the lighter brown one with the short tail? It's a youngster. 😃
#aardvark
Yes, looks like #wildebeest
#bird landing. Unfortunately too blurry and dark to tell, but my guess would be it's a weaver of some sorts.
A very clear capture of a #hare
Two #jackal
Nice find! They don't seem to be too wary of each other.
Yes, seems to be a #buffalo , well done!
These are #wildebeest
Nice one! Gray-backed #fiscal I think.... also, #elephant in the background.
Rhinos are very, very rare! This probably is a bunch of zebras.
It's an #elephant ... that bristly thing to the left is the trunk waving about.
Those are #wildebeest ... dark brownish coat colour, horse-like tail, and tend to stick together in really big herds.
Might just be a leaf waving in the wind... it does look a bit greenish!
Definitely #eagle ... most likely a tawny eagle, I think.
#waterbuck
Looks like #impala ... tall, long-legged creatures with fairly big ears.
#lion #young
Some kind of small #bird ... maybe a shrike? Any ideas?
#bird #starling
Yes, black-headed heron I believe.
Yes, #springhare ... they do look a bit like small kangaroos when they're hopping. Long fluffy tails, but you can't quite see them here.
#serval
#hare
The first clearly captured #dragonfly I've seen!
Wow... that carcass has been picked clean rather thoroughly.
Also some movement to the right... bigger groups of large animals travelling like this very often are zebras and/or wildebeests.
How to know it's an eland: Black spot on foreleg, tail with black tassel, and it's a rather big and somewhat bulky animal.
Side-striped #jackal on the prowl.
It's an #eland... you can see what looks like a mop of mussed hair on the forehead, which is very typical.
#thomsonsgazelle investigating the camera
Most likely #thomsonsgazelle grazing, you can just see the white and black side stripes. Also, second gazelle lying down just behind it.
I'd say so too, looks like harebutt what with the tail that's black on top and white underneath.
#bushbuck
Yes, looks like it.
That's a #wildebeest resting there, not bulky enough for buffalo.
I would guess bird, kori bustard maybe.
#zebra #young
Looks like a big bird suddenly popping up in pic 3...
#lion x3
#error in picture 2
Hyena? Lion? Too fluffy for one of the herbivores...
Oooh. Nice find!
Only three of them, and yet this must be the biggest group of #waterbuck I've seen so far!
Not a bat, it's the head of a #giraffe 😃
#giraffe resting
Yes, #buffalo.
#lion snoozefest
Could be #wildebeest. Coat looks a bit too dark and coarse for hartebeest, which would be my second guess.
#hartebeest
#cheetah
In addition to that, this is one of the spots where you will regularly see Thomson's gazelles resting, it seems to be a favourite for them.
It's a smaller animal, a lot smaller than adult lion. Body shape in resting position looks more like an antelope's than feline.
#lion
... bird perching on top of camera.
Seems to be a #buffalo, if ASG00188ag can be trusted. Wearing a fake beard. Maybe a case of species dysphoria, or a show act. 😉
Too bad the pic is so dark... Insectivore beak, so my WAG is it could be something in the Muscicapidae family, like scrub robin. Or not. 😉
#thomsons-gazelle resting.
I'm quite sure it's a #bird moving to the right. Could this be a Southern Ground Hornbill?
#bird on #zebra
I only see one #zebra in the background right side...
#thomsons-gazelle - not so big, plus wonky-looking small horns. Also second gazelle directly behind first one that has a black bushy tail.
Two #cheetah
Must be a #hyena...
#leopard eclipse
It does look a bit odd, but I think the black stripe is just a shadow. Animal probably is a Thomson's.
It's a #white-tailed-mongoose.
Heheh. Shredded-looking branch moving as if by magic. I'm suspecting an elephant. 😃
#ostrich
It's a #hippo.
#superb-starling #bird
#cattle-egret perching rather nonchalantly on a #wildebeest.
Impalas don't have such big black areas, only a smaller black spot on belly in front of hind legs... more likely #thomsons-gazelle.
Oh. I didn't know that, thanks! I thought it's only the males, and only when they're ready for some amorous action. 😃
#elephant #musth
Wow, great capture!
Most likely #eland, see ASG00148rc from an hour earlier. Looks like it moved on to a shadier spot. 😃
Definitely eland. See ASG00148rc a few minutes later.
My first thought was, it's an ear. But it actually doesn't look like it's attached to a head. Maybe feline tail and weird perspective?
Yes, looks like a broken tusk.
Oh! And the other picture looks like a.... dangling jackal? Definitely one of the weirder captures.
Could be someone's tail as well!
Seems so, body shape looks right and I can see a crest on top of the head.
This should be a Hartlaub's. Males more grey in colour, main difference is the plumage on the back though with black and white markings.
Whatever it is, it looks oddly sideways. Ostrich feathers maybe?
Any suggestions as to what we're looking at here? I went with warthog, but I honestly don't know.
Looks like it, yes.
Now that you mention it... yes, probably more likely. (._.)
Whoa. Heavy rainfall!
Male #dikdik
Most likely just a leaf waving in the breeze.
That's just shadows... this is a #lion 😃
Male #reedbuck
#bustard (either Hartlaub's or black-bellied)
Looks like there's a bird grooming the monkey! Any idea what kind of bird this could be?
#warthog running away from something that startled it.
#eland legs with characteristic black markings.
Nice one to compare the body shapes of male and female #eland!
Two #dikdik
Awesome! 😄
Thanks! Yes, that tuft had me a bit puzzled.
Yes. Mark as human, then tag as #cows here so the scientists will know. 😃
Looks like the massive body shape of a #buffalo. A rhino would have a longer body and sturdier legs.
Yes! Also, sidestripe is very faint only, and the tail is thin and non-bushy.
That's because they're #eland. Topis and hartebeests always have thick curved horns, and body shape looks more sloped towards back.
Most likely #white-bellied-bustard
Vervet monkey tail?
So they do sleep on their host animals... I've been wondering about this. Fascinating, thanks!
#banded-mongoose
Nosy #wildebeest
#waterbuck x2
#baboon with #young
What's it with oxpeckers and giraffes anyways? They always seem to cling to the belly. Or maybe we just don't get to see the ones on top?
Here's the red thing from ASG001506a again, only a few minutes earlier. Looks decidely less insectoid in this capture. Vegetation maybe?
I think that could be the forward-curving horn of a male #reedbuck.
Lovely #waterbuck
#error
I suspect that's how male elephants look when they're not showing off. 😉
Not horses. These are #wildebeest.
#elephant munching a shrub.
#warthog
Something small scuttling across the lens. Lizard maybe?
Two #warthog keeping a wary eye on a #spotted-hyena
#spotted-hyena
Smallish bird I'd say, walking away from the cam.
There was another picture very similar to this. The conclusion was it's a spotted hyena with shadows causing the "stripes".
Looks like that #thomsons-gazelle is a bit startled by the big #bird swooping past.
#buffalo. What a view...
Definitely #gazelle. There are a few Thomson's gazelles hanging out in this location usually, so this is probably one of them.
Tricky one, but looks too small and I think I see a bird shape - brownish with white "eyebrows", maybe female white-bellied bustard?
Thank you! Feeling a bit self-conscious now. 😮
Heh heh. Now "elephone" will be stuck in my mind forever.
Lonk trunk and a tusk, really big animal... might just be an #elephant. 😉
Not a horn, it's his ear. 😃
Sure, these are #wildebeest. The small one in the middle with the tiny horns is a youngster. 😃
#gazelle, most likely Thomson's.
#elephant, at least two or three of them.
Wayyy to tall for that. It's a juvenile #hartebeest, hence the short straight horns.
Nice side-by-side comparison of Grant's and Thomson's #gazelle
It's a #secretary-bird. The dark quill-like feathers on its head are a bit hard to see here, but they're there.
Almost missed that one, it's right under the "collect" button here in the talk section. Too far away for me to tell what it is!
#baboon
Most likely just a twig
Nice one! #black-winged-kite #bird taking off.
Gosh, "wide butts"? They're slim and trim compared to buffalo behinds! 😉
#reedbuck. You forgot an "e". 😉
Yes, marabou storks as mentioned before.
Very likely a gazelle, probably #thomsons-gazelle because of size and colour.
#thomsons-gazelle covered in flies. Gah.
#zebra mama and #young
#elephant dustbath
#steinbuck?
I IDd it as warthog too.
Eland maybe?
Jumping #dikdik
Much smaller, #warthog. That thin tail with the sparse bristles on its tip is very typical.
#buffalo with big bald patch
#lion with #collar
#wildebeest with #young
#impala with #young
#error in pic 3
#crowned-lapwing #bird
It's a #martial-eagle eating, according to other captures from around that time.
#grey-backed-fiscal #bird
There are at least four #banded-mongoose here
#reedbuck with #young
#guineafowl head popping up to the very left in picture 3.
#thomson-gazelle on the run
Nothing wrong with keeping your bits clean! 😉
#wildebeest #young
#fire getting closer...
Spooky #giraffe
#white-bellied bustard #bird
I'd really like this to be a caracal, but it's probably a #reedbuck, isn't it?
#cheetah I think
Two #serval
#warthog more likely
#impala #young
#guineafowl eating, with one of them watching out for predators.
#grants-gazelle, and a #giraffe walking past on the horizon. Probably the only animal that's really easy to ID even at this distance. 😉
#elephant #young
#white-bellied-bustard #bird
Probably a #warthog using the camera as a scratching post.
#porcupine
Looking a bit dark there, but I think this is a hyena... opinions?
#reedbuck
snicker
Now that's a cute little thing... 😄
#warthog I'd say
Ah, thanks! That's quite impressive, like an explosion!
This is a recurring shot... I think so far the theory is that it's a fire-damaged cam and that these are ashes. 😐
#wildebeest I think, the ear doesn't look right for a buffalo.
Too heavy and not fuzzy enough for waterbuck, these are #buffalo.
To the left it's just the branches of a shrub or other big plant, I'm afraid. They look sort of V-shaped, but definitely not impala ears.
#thomson-gazelle freaking out about #zebra dustbath 😄
#eland
#zebra #young #itchy
Two #white-bellied-bustard #bird
#zebra stretch
Dirty #zebra, must've taken a mudbath instead of a dustbath.
#spotted-hyena and #zebra herd in the distance
Whoa. Could this be a dust devil up close?
Wrinkly #zebra chest.
I think that there are some #zebra actually, looks like three of them back there.
I was hoping another capture would turn up, so yay... definitely is a #reedbuck with dotted ears then, interesting! 😃
#warthog, too bristly for hyena.
It's an #elephant, yes, despite the thin-looking legs. And that orange thing is elephant dung. Aren't you glad you asked? 😉
There's a small spot to the left where you can make out some fur with spots, and it's a small animal, so #serval most likely.
#topi
#guinea-fowl
#mongoose
#thomsons-gazelle #fighting
Mystery animal is #dikdik - small, greyish-brown fur, white belly, spindly legs.
#black-winged-kite #black-shouldered-kite
Heh heh. #baboon
Is anyone putting together a collection with these pictures? That would be a great one for sure!
Thanks. Pleasure to ID with such a clear picture! 😃
I think it's a #hartebeest, they're fairly tall so often you'll just see their noses.
Yes, #warthog!
Looks like a #warthog -medium-sized, greyish-brown and big head!
Some #fighting going on to the left.
#grants-gazelle
#hartebeest needs a wash
She doesn't seem to be in the mood though. 😉
Three #spotted-hyena
#impala flehmen response
No, #topi. The picture is a bit dark, but you can still see the darker patches on the upper part of the legs.
Prowling #lion
Nearly missed the #giraffe lurking behind the tree!
#black-headed-heron #bird
Soggy #warthog
#white-tailed-mongoose. They look sort of a grizzled grey except for the white tail.
Great capture! Black-lored babbler, I think.
Something small, black and glossy... bird maybe?
Male #waterbuck up close... quite lovely.
Don't know what to make of this... looks like a reedbuck, but those black dots on the ears?
#elephant group actually, note huge ear on the one to the very right.
Vegetation. This is also one of the spots where the lions like to rest, but none here at the moment!
It's a #dust-devil
#dikdik couple
Yup!
Tiny #lizard on the dead tree
#lilac-breasted-roller #bird
Looks big... vulture maybe?
#white-tailed-mongoose
Serval, see below. In picture #2 you can just see the stripes running down the back of the head and breaking up into spots at the shoulders.
Very dark picture, but #cheetah spots just visible.
#buffalo grazing
#cheetah mama with #young
What I see is a striped animal with a black bushy tail and a somewhat rounded back moving towards the right... aardwolf would be my guess.
Looks like there might be some #fighting about to start here
Two #spotted-hyena
Pondering insect angle... Sturdy legs, long slim build, big.... how about locust, e.g. Phymateus? Too bad we'll never really find out. 😦
Too big - #cheetah
Exhibitionist #grants-gazelle
Heheh. One for the collection!
Wow, awesome...
Male #bushbuck
This looks like #leopard spots on the back... opinions?
Bizarre red thingie.
Size and posture says #hyena
#thomsons-gazelle
#buffalo eclipse
#hippo
That must be the biggest #hartebeest herd I've seen so far
#spotted-hyena and several #thomsons-gazelle in the background
#cheetah tail
#magpie-shrike #bird
They're both adult #buffalo. A wildebeest would have a distinct white "beard" under its chin and neck, one of the ID signs to look for.
Another one for "Butts of the Serengeti": #baboon
Too funny! #serval
No, #thomsons-gazelle
#serval ears
#zebra lips
Small animal to the left, but very hard to see any details. Looks cat-like to me though.
#reedbuck by daylight
#buffalo roll - and what a cloud of flies, gah. No wonder he's itchy.
Welcome to our first installment of "Butts of the Serengeti"! 😉
Looks like it, yes. Grant's are a bit taller, so they'd "stand out".
Might be a buffalo actually.
Surprisingly clear picture of a #mongoose
#hartlaubs-bustard #bird
Erm, stripy tail swishing back and forth? Serval perching on top of camera?
Heh. I'd say #elephant trunk, they're quite bristly up close.
#elephant taking a shrub apart.
#spotted-hyena I think, with twigs stuck to its face.
#warthog, with snout and tusk barely visible just to the right.
Yes, think so!
This could be a Thomson's gazelle resting, looks like there is a fat black stripe on the side.
Yay, exciting! Thanks! 😄
Yes!
Eww, sure looks like one... Elephant needs an oxpecker to come visit!
Two more #zebra grazing I think.
#wildebeest youngster. If you look closely you can just see the white "beard" they have.
They're both #zebra too, further off in the distance which is why they look smaller.
#hartebeest in front, #grants-gazelle in the background.
#grey-backed-fiscal #bird - too bad that branch is in the way!
#black-shouldered-kite #bird
Yet another #thomsons-gazelle with wonky horns.
#spotted-hyena approaching a group of #zebra
They're so fuzzy! 😄
#hippo x3
#bird
#marabou #bird
#vervet-monkey x2
#serval ear seen from the back.
#bird x2 - eagles or vultures?
#warthog photobomb
#cheetah x2
#eagle #bird
Heh. #lion paw waving about.
Neck of a bird I think, probably #kori-bustard. They fluff up their neck feathers when they're displaying.
Is that a #steinbuck?
snerk
#lion x2
I'd go for #warthog too... that "mane" looks very typical, and it's too small for a waterbuck.
I think that's actually light reflected off spiderwebs close to the cam.
Female #impala herd.
So tiny! 😄
Tip of a #serval tail.
#black-backed-jackal
Wow... #ostrich
Nice one of a #lappet-faced-vulture!
#eland x2
Psychedelic #bushbuck
Lovely capture of a male #impala
#springhare #rodent
#hartebeest fleeing to safety as the #fire comes near.
#impala
#zebra and #giraffe meeting.
#secretary-bird discarding some grass. Probably not good enough to pad a nest with!
Smaller creatures on the left, but too far away for details. #Mongoose?
#bushbuck with the white spots clearly visible.
Male #impala
Neat! He's displaying right in front of the cam!
#secretary-bird preening.
Great capture of a #reedbuck
Yes, #impala. Typical brownish and white fur colour, and that black spot between hind leg and belly is another thing that impalas have.
Young male #impala - tiny horns, just starting to grow!
Oops! Well, at least I got the part right where I said it's a neck. 😉
Pretty capture of a #impala walking past the camera.
Great capture of a #serval
#vervet-monkey
Plus a #topi 😉
The one in front? No, fur is too short and no spots, hence #gazelle
#buffalo
#starling #bird
#serval x2
Looks too small, I think it's a #serval
That's an #oxpecker bird, they can usually be found perching on large mammals. This one here is probably standing on a buffalo or similar.
Just some plants moving in the breeze.
I see something tiny and white moving.... very likely #bird-other
#wildebeest is correct!
No, just a snaky-looking branch.
It's an #eland - rather big animal, long tail with black tassel at the end, and in picture 2 you can see a glimpse of a black fetlock.
#secretary-bird carrying twigs.
#topi x2
#warthog head, facing away from camera.
It's a #gazelle, can't tell what type though.
It's a #spotted-hyena
Could be a dikdik.
Next day, same location, same time: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG0012in6
#eland #camouflage. I spotted six of them, but they're quite hard to see especially since they're not even moving.
#ostrich on the horizon.
#kori-bustard
#dikdik x2
Yellowish colour, no visible darker or lighter fur markings, tail has a few sparse dark hairs, horns are close together at base: #hartebeest
#wildebeest battling a twig.
#young #wildebeest
Two #thomson-gazelle males fighting just to the right.
No, they're #grants-gazelle, their white butts and white tails are just visible.
#reedbuck mama with #young one.
#warthog tusk
Is that #hartebeest one-eyed or just snoozing with eyes closed?
#spotted-hyena, not exactly skinny.
Too small, and has tusks not horns... #warthog
It's the neck of a bustard
Neat! #zebra #giraffe #elephant #impala
The collar is a tracking device, some of the lions have them.
Yes, the little guy is a dikdik. There are some impalas in the background though.
#young #thomsons-gazelle
Sudden #serval
#giraffe faaaar off in the distance.
I see what you mean... looks like an oddly bent piece of vegetation to me though.
#white-headed-buffalo-weaver
#giraffe x5
#guineafowl - that's the head with its prominent crest. There's a second bird just above it too, you can see some feathers there.
Damp #impala
#spotted-hyena up close.
I think this is just some vegetation, same as here: http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG0015lya
This #jackal looks different than the last few I've seen... is it a golden jackal?
#kori-bustard posing for the cam.
#fire has reached the camera!
Two #cheetah. I think the one in the back is a young one, looks small.
#zebra and #dikdik
#bushbuck x2
#warthog x3
Check out those powerful legs! 😄
#hippo with #young one.
#serval playing with the camera.
#lion trio
#guineafowl parade
Panting #cheetah
#ostrich moving in the distance.
#butterfly , probably Colotis sp.
Mongoose?
Male #impala herding a bunch of females.
#starling sitting and watching a bunch of #guineafowl
Those aren't birds, they're flies, and lots of them... 😐
#impala actually, if you take a closer look at their noses and the black eartips.
Must be the umbilical cord?
#oxpecker in a forest of #eland legs.
That's one rather plump-looking #spotted-hyena
#secretary-bird doesn't look like it wants company.
I would have said it's a hyena, those are rather big round ears. The #zebra is definitely aware of whatever's lurking there.
Deflated #balloon
Yes, #baboon and he's holding something in his hand too, investigating it.
#impala by night. The black ear tips are nicely visible, as well as the black tuft of hair above the hoof on the hind leg.
Nice side view of a #grants-gazelle
#eland and a lot of flies!
That looks like a monkey's tail...
#thomsons-gazelle , you can see the black "racing stripe".
#jackal x2 watching something walk past.
#dust-devil
#white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird
Yes, unicorn. Also, #thomsons-gazelle 😃
Yes, two warthogs being friendly!
Yes. Black and somewhat bushy tail, definitely a #thomsons-gazelle
Yes, #reedbuck very definitely. The ones with the black "tear" eye spots are dikdiks. Reedbucks have a little black spot under the ear.
Hyena tail?
Up front that's a #hartebeest , and in the background several #grants-gazelle
#hartlaubs-bustard
Wonderful capture of a #spotted-hyena
#lion approaching!
#zebra , you can just see a bit of the striped hock in picture 2.
Caracal I think?
This #dikdik doesn't look alright. 😐
#topi walking past two #young ones resting in the grass.
#elephant #baby kicking up some dust. 😄
#elephant tusk. That one really had me puzzled for a moment.
Weird one... owl side view?
Yay, #waterbuck !
Wow, nice capture!
I think there might be 3 actually, with one hiding in the shadow near the middle of the pic. There's something moving there.
That could be a male Hypolimnas misippus fluttering past... or some very similar-looking species anyways. #butterfly
True, could be #impala as well. Hm! 😐
They look a bit plump and not so tall to me though.
#porcupine butt
#lion paw!
Blurry #reedbuck I think.
Four #grey-breasted-spurfowl up close and easier to see than usual.
#white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird in the lower left corner.
Odd...
Could this be a #zorilla ?
#wattled-starling #bird in the left lower corner, and a #gazelle herd in the background.
Looks like there are whiskers, so maybe feline?
#lion group of five.
#poo
#martial-eagle perched on treetrunk. I only know because I've seen other pictures close to that timestamp. 😉
#giraffe group pruning the trees.
#giraffe
Run #spotted-hyena run!
#southern-ground-hornbill #bird
Male #thomsons-gazelle checking out a female.
Are these #warthog youngsters? How cute.
Behind the #buffalo herd, there's a bunch of long-tailed #birds in the tree, about starling-sized... can anyone ID?
Heh. I actually picked wildebeest since I had to pick something. But that sure looks weird.
Wow, good one!
It's a #hare
Good question...
Big #baboon group, with several more almost hidden by the high grass, and little ones too.
#giraffe gathering.
#eland mama and #baby
#baboon x2
#serval sneaking.
Investigative #serval
#cheetah slumber party.
In that case, #martial-eagle
#bushbuck by daylight.
#giraffe huddle.
#serval tail.
#baboon on the move.
Whoever this is, he has flies buzzing around him.
Yes, #impala and what appears to be a #young one in the background.
#secretary-bird up close.
Seeing double. #secretary-bird
This sequence made me snicker. Shake that butt!
I think that bizarre-looking thing on the right is his ear actually. Buffalos often have rather torn ears.
#bird perching on camera.
Yes, #lion ... this is one of their hiding spots.
Nice #guineafowl profile! Usually you just see them as dark blobs in the grass.
No idea what part of which animal we're looking at here. Is this someone's head?
First time I've seen an elephant out there near that dead treetrunk.
Lovely capture.
One #warthog and an #elephant herd.
This probably is the same bird as in http://talk.snapshotserengeti.org/#/subjects/ASG00132j8 which would make it a #martial-eagle
Nice one of a #hippo
Neat! Probably wouldn't have seen that, it's so tiny.
I would have said #secretary-bird looking back over its shoulder.
I don't see anything here, just vegetation...
Yes, I think it's a #wildebeest eating grass, and seen from the back.
I don't see anything...
That's a #buffalo horn we're looking at here, with the buffalo facing away from us. 😉
#cheetah disappearing.
#kori-bustard portrait.
Male #bushbuck with the white markings clearly visible.
Awesome capture.
#baby #impala hiding in the grass. At least that's what I think it is, I've seen impalas in this spot several times before iirc.
#black-backed-jackal posing wonderfully for the cam. Also a small #zebra group in the background.
Definitely think so!
#side-striped-jackal I think... since the only thing that can be seen clearly is a bushy tail with a white tip.
He's holding something in his beak I think. Time for a snack!
Plump-looking body shape, a small head with blue and red face and a little crest on top... #guineafowl
Going by the pattern on the feathers I'd say it's the rear end of a #hartlaubs-bustard
Ahem. I think they're just making a little brother or sister for their kid.
#bushbuck #baby
#bird #lilac-breasted-roller
I think those could be #marabou actually
Another postcard motif of a #giraffe
They're so adorkable.
Nice find!
Do I see that right? Are there cows mixed in with the #buffalo herd?
It's so great to actually get to see more than just their leg joints every once in a while! 😉
#buffalo and #babies
#baboon with #baby on back
Yup, I spotted the bird! And it's standing stock-still too, probably should have been a hint that there's a predator closeby. 😐
Looks like one to me, yes!
It's a young #wildebeest
Disembodied #elephant tail.
#white-bellied-bustard
Huge #dust-devil
Short black tail might be a #thomsons-gazelle
I admit I have no clue. It's hairy all over, but not long hair like a wildebeest's. Yeti? Waterbuck? Monkey?
#eland decorated with a grass-and-dirt headdress.
Most likely it's the backside of a jumping #reedbuck
#hartebeest stepped on a spiky branch. Ouch.
#thomsons-gazelle and #crowned-lapwing just standing there.
#baboon profile.
Sort of spooky!
These huge #wildebeest herds never cease to amaze me!
#secretary-bird with a big load of nest-building material.
Maybe a predator approaching? They all seem to be very still and alert with eyes and ears pointing in the same direction.
My first #vervet-monkey close-up, so excited... and I just noticed one has a #baby clinging on to her belly! 😄
Cheetahs look "long-necked" and thinner compared to leopards. They also have smaller spots on their fur.
That #spotted-hyena somehow doesn't look too pleased.
#buffalo with crunchy mud crust.
#grants-gazelle posing nicely for the camera.
#buffalo with an #oxpecker stuck to his nose... and there's another one on his back as well!
Great picture of a #giraffe
Yum, snack!
White chin, so I'm guessing it's a lion?
That's just impressive.
#wildebeest #herd
#topi #closeup
#wildebeest group with #baby
Yes! It's fairly big, got black and white plumage and these longer tail feathers sticking out.
#secretary-bird
#spotted-hyena moving past a #gazelle herd.
#baby
I've no idea either, but I agree that it looks like feathers.
Looks like an eland to me!
2x #white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird
Great capture of a #warthog
#servals interacting.
Lazy day in lion land.
A pile of #wildebeest 😉
#thomsons-gazelle and #crowned-lapwing side by side.
#warthog meeting.
I'd go with hartebeest because of the colour and ear shape.
#wildebeest herd on the move, except for mama feeding her baby.
Yes
#baboon group
Sure looks like one to me!
Quite the lively bunch!
#hartebeest flapping its ears quite wonderfully. 😉
Oooh, nice one! #lion
A small feline?
Oh wow, how exciting! 😄
#bird pecking the camera?
Some kind of ground #bird... coqui francolins? Or spurfowl?
Alright, what am I looking at here? It's probably not a white chicken with a snake stuck to it, but that's how it looks to me!
#cheetah , barely there.
Some type of #bird , maybe a starling?
#elephant and #baby
sniff sniff sniff
#thomson-gazelle fight in the distance.
Spurfowl I think?
Yup! Looks very young too!
#bird #kite
#lion and he's probably licking his butt. 😮
Nice capture of a #warthog
Long-necked #bird on the ground, maybe some type of bustard?
Very definitely #grants-gazelle
Swooping #bird
Yep, can definitely see the warthog shape now. d'oh
I think there might be a second #lion in the background, but then again it could be a dead branch or a rock.
Wow, 5 of them at once!
This one has me stumped. I thought "bird", but the longer I look at it, the less sure I am.
#secretary-bird gathering up twigs.
Spooked #impala
#lion roll.
#thomsons-gazelle battling an annoying spiky twig.
#serval x2?
Serval I think?
Relaxed #lion
Nice one of a #giraffe
Well, it could be a five-legged elephant... just saying.
Getting flashed by a #topi 😮
Chocolate-dipped hyena? Sounds enticing, I'll have one please!
Conga line! (^_^)/
Speeding #zebra
#serval on the prowl.
#hyena interacting with what seems to be a dead branch.
#ostrich and a #giraffe in the background.
#gazelle looking dorky.
#closeup
Awesome, haven't seen this captured before!
#eland with #oxpecker clinging on to its leg.
#guineafowl
Hyena is my guess. Looks like big round ears there.
#giraffe and #guineafowl
Wet fur. Wildebeest maybe?
The body shape is that of a hyena I think. So possibly an #aardwolf or a striped hyena?
#lion ears.
#serval backside.
#shadow moving, but impossible to tell what or who's casting it.
#feline
Neat how you can just see the nose!
Insomniac maybe? 😉
#marabou I think!
One #porcupine or maybe even two?
Possibly Hildebrandt's starling?
#bushbuck and #baby
#black-bellied-bustard #bird
Young #wildebeest hiding in the grass.
Nice one. I've never seen that many in one picture!
Too big to be servals I think.
Spot the #giraffe
#topi backside
#jackal showing off its teeth.
#kori-bustard displaying.
Giving us something to see, how nice!
Posing for the cam.
#human
#kori-bustard displaying?
#baboon with #baby on back. 😄
#lion on the prowl.
#lion with collar.
#baboon going for a walk.
#elephant walking past the cam at close distance.
#topi eyeing #lion ?
What the heck am I looking at here?
#warthog gathering.
First time I've seen a #topi group picture.
Nice capture of #ostrich on the move.
That's awesome!
Who knew that #baboon butts were so shiny?
#zebra investigating the camera.
My guess would be Thomson's gazelle, and that's a part of the belly and hind leg that we're looking at.
Ectoparasites?
#buffalo #young #oxpecker #bird
Awesome sequence!
#wildebeest looking somewhat surprised.
Wow, quite some action going on here!
Unicorn!
Oooh, nice one!
Love the picture. muted colours and mist and the animals barely more than silhouettes...
#wildebeest and #oxpecker
#bushbuck with a missing eartip.
#impala party.
#bird in flight.
#bird #magpie-shrike
Lion's mane? Looks too long and shaggy to be anything else...
I guess sometimes it's nice to feel the breeze? 😉
Someone's playing with the camera. 😄
Serval? Looks too small and thin to be a cheetah or leopard.
I do wonder how that happens.
Peeking #bird
#serval camouflage in action.
Nice capture!
Isn't this way too dark for a dikdik?
Booty's not the only thing shaking here... (O_O)
#bird taking a nap right in front of the camera.
#gazelle with deformed horns
"This may come as a total surprise, son, but you've been adopted."
Poor guy's feeling itchy and has nobody to scratch him!
#wildebeest
Some type of kite, but which?
#bird #raptor #kite
Did I see that right? Is there a second #baboon climbing the tree to the very right?
#lion butt?
#elephant
Ooh nice capture!
#thomsonsgazelle huddle.
#bird wandering between the gazelles... is this a chick?
Serval? It looks like a feline to me at any rate.
#zebra with #oxpecker riding along.
Awesome picture.
Bad hair day lion.
One #thomsonsgazelle seems to have a deformed horn that curls up on itself, and the other one has horns that cross. Weird.
Looks like this guy has really crooked horns.
#thomsonsgazelle
#thomsongazelle youngsters hanging out.
#zebra flehmen response.
Looks like feathers...
Grey-backed fiscal?
White-headed bufalo weaver?
#hyena chasing hyena chasing hyena!
#thomsonsgazelle defecating. No privacy around here!
Neat find.
That nose wiggle is quite something. X)
Fox? Jackal?
#reedbuck with young.
#thomsonsgazelle calling out.
One of its horns is broken off. (._.)
#gazelle
#topi and #hartebeest
#spottedhyena
This #wildebeest gives a whole new meaning to "buttrub"...
Two birds foraging on the ground. They seem to be a metallic blue, some type of starling?
#oxpecker #bird
#zebra #stampede
#elephant found himself a nice scratching post, it seems.
#eland has something stuck to its horn, but what?
#batearedfox
Cheetah?
Bug in flight?
#chick
Investigative #lion
#lion hiding in shrub.
#secretarybird prettying up!
#ohai #giraffe
Happy #zebra huddle
#fire
Are the black dots flies?
Serval?
#udder
#aardwolf
#leopard
#jackal
Two #jackal
#bushbuck
Hyena?
#waterbuck
Two #cheetah
Must be a #hyena...
#leopard eclipse
It does look a bit odd, but I think the black stripe is just a shadow. Animal probably is a Thomson's.
It's a #white-tailed-mongoose.
Heheh. Shredded-looking branch moving as if by magic. I'm suspecting an elephant. 😃
#ostrich
It's a #hippo.
#bushbuck
#superb-starling #bird
#cattle-egret perching rather nonchalantly on a #wildebeest.
Impalas don't have such big black areas, only a smaller black spot on belly in front of hind legs... more likely #thomsons-gazelle.
Oh. I didn't know that, thanks! I thought it's only the males, and only when they're ready for some amorous action. 😃
#elephant #musth
Wow, great capture!
#lion
Most likely #eland, see ASG00148rc from an hour earlier. Looks like it moved on to a shadier spot. 😃
Definitely eland. See ASG00148rc a few minutes later.
#lion
#zebra #young
#lion snoozefest
#waterbuck x2
#baboon with #young
What's it with oxpeckers and giraffes anyways? They always seem to cling to the belly. Or maybe we just don't get to see the ones on top?
Here's the red thing from ASG001506a again, only a few minutes earlier. Looks decidely less insectoid in this capture. Vegetation maybe?
I think that could be the forward-curving horn of a male #reedbuck.
Lovely #waterbuck
#dikdik
#aardvark
#hare
#aardvark
#wildebeest with #young
#serval
#impala with #young
#baboon
#error in pic 3
#serval
#crowned-lapwing #bird
It's a #martial-eagle eating, according to other captures from around that time.
#grey-backed-fiscal #bird
There are at least four #banded-mongoose here
#reedbuck with #young
#waterbuck
#spotted-hyena
#guineafowl head popping up to the very left in picture 3.
#thomson-gazelle on the run
Nothing wrong with keeping your bits clean! 😉
#wildebeest #young
#fire getting closer...
#cheetah
Spooky #giraffe
#lion with #collar
#white-bellied bustard #bird
I'd really like this to be a caracal, but it's probably a #reedbuck, isn't it?
#cheetah I think
#waterbuck
#baboon
Two #serval
#warthog more likely
#impala #young
#guineafowl eating, with one of them watching out for predators.
#aardwolf
#grants-gazelle, and a #giraffe walking past on the horizon. Probably the only animal that's really easy to ID even at this distance. 😉
#elephant #young
#white-bellied-bustard #bird
Probably a #warthog using the camera as a scratching post.
#spotted-hyena
#serval
#wildebeest I think, the ear doesn't look right for a buffalo.
Too heavy and not fuzzy enough for waterbuck, these are #buffalo.
To the left it's just the branches of a shrub or other big plant, I'm afraid. They look sort of V-shaped, but definitely not impala ears.
#serval
#dikdik
#cheetah
#thomson-gazelle freaking out about #zebra dustbath 😄
#eland
#lion
#zebra #young #itchy
Two #white-bellied-bustard #bird
#zebra stretch
#cheetah
Dirty #zebra, must've taken a mudbath instead of a dustbath.
#spotted-hyena and #zebra herd in the distance
Whoa. Could this be a dust devil up close?
#bushbuck
#bushbuck
Wrinkly #zebra chest.
I think that there are some #zebra actually, looks like three of them back there.
I was hoping another capture would turn up, so yay... definitely is a #reedbuck with dotted ears then, interesting! 😃
#warthog, too bristly for hyena.
It's an #elephant, yes, despite the thin-looking legs. And that orange thing is elephant dung. Aren't you glad you asked? 😉
There's a small spot to the left where you can make out some fur with spots, and it's a small animal, so #serval most likely.
#dikdik
#serval
#serval
#serval
#topi
#guinea-fowl
#warthog
#bushbuck
#mongoose
#reedbuck with #young
#thomsons-gazelle #fighting
#waterbuck
#warthog
Mystery animal is #dikdik - small, greyish-brown fur, white belly, spindly legs.
#guinea-fowl
#black-winged-kite #black-shouldered-kite
Heh heh. #baboon
Is anyone putting together a collection with these pictures? That would be a great one for sure!
Thanks. Pleasure to ID with such a clear picture! 😃
I think it's a #hartebeest, they're fairly tall so often you'll just see their noses.
Yes, #warthog!
Looks like a #warthog -medium-sized, greyish-brown and big head!
#mongoose
Some #fighting going on to the left.
#grants-gazelle
#zebra #young
#hartebeest needs a wash
She doesn't seem to be in the mood though. 😉
Three #spotted-hyena
#crowned-lapwing #bird
#impala flehmen response
No, #topi. The picture is a bit dark, but you can still see the darker patches on the upper part of the legs.
#elephant #young
#waterbuck
Prowling #lion
#aardwolf
Nearly missed the #giraffe lurking behind the tree!
#black-headed-heron #bird
Soggy #warthog
#reedbuck with #young
#white-tailed-mongoose. They look sort of a grizzled grey except for the white tail.
Great capture! Black-lored babbler, I think.
Something small, black and glossy... bird maybe?
Male #waterbuck up close... quite lovely.
Don't know what to make of this... looks like a reedbuck, but those black dots on the ears?
#topi
#elephant group actually, note huge ear on the one to the very right.
Vegetation. This is also one of the spots where the lions like to rest, but none here at the moment!
It's a #dust-devil
#dikdik couple
Yup!
Tiny #lizard on the dead tree
#lilac-breasted-roller #bird
Looks big... vulture maybe?
#white-tailed-mongoose
#serval
#aardvark
#hartebeest
Serval, see below. In picture #2 you can just see the stripes running down the back of the head and breaking up into spots at the shoulders.
Very dark picture, but #cheetah spots just visible.
#buffalo grazing
#cheetah mama with #young
#bushbuck
What I see is a striped animal with a black bushy tail and a somewhat rounded back moving towards the right... aardwolf would be my guess.
Looks like there might be some #fighting about to start here
#superb-starling #bird
Two #spotted-hyena
#serval
Pondering insect angle... Sturdy legs, long slim build, big.... how about locust, e.g. Phymateus? Too bad we'll never really find out. 😦
Too big - #cheetah
Exhibitionist #grants-gazelle
Heheh. One for the collection!
Wow, awesome...
Male #bushbuck
This looks like #leopard spots on the back... opinions?
Bizarre red thingie.
Size and posture says #hyena
#thomsons-gazelle
#buffalo eclipse
#hippo
#topi
#hippo
That must be the biggest #hartebeest herd I've seen so far
#spotted-hyena and several #thomsons-gazelle in the background
#cheetah tail
#magpie-shrike #bird
They're both adult #buffalo. A wildebeest would have a distinct white "beard" under its chin and neck, one of the ID signs to look for.
#wildebeest #young
Another one for "Butts of the Serengeti": #baboon
Too funny! #serval
No, #thomsons-gazelle
#serval ears
#zebra lips
Small animal to the left, but very hard to see any details. Looks cat-like to me though.
#reedbuck by daylight
#porcupine
#magpie-shrike #bird
#lion
#buffalo roll - and what a cloud of flies, gah. No wonder he's itchy.
#aardwolf
Welcome to our first installment of "Butts of the Serengeti"! 😉
Looks like it, yes. Grant's are a bit taller, so they'd "stand out".
Might be a buffalo actually.
Surprisingly clear picture of a #mongoose
#hartlaubs-bustard #bird
Erm, stripy tail swishing back and forth? Serval perching on top of camera?
Heh. I'd say #elephant trunk, they're quite bristly up close.
#elephant taking a shrub apart.
Male #reedbuck
#lion
#hartebeest in front, #grants-gazelle in the background.
#grey-backed-fiscal #bird - too bad that branch is in the way!
#black-shouldered-kite #bird
Yet another #thomsons-gazelle with wonky horns.
#spotted-hyena approaching a group of #zebra
They're so fuzzy! 😄
#serval
#hippo x3
#waterbuck
#bird
#marabou #bird
#vervet-monkey x2
#lion
#serval ear seen from the back.
#bird x2 - eagles or vultures?
#warthog photobomb
#bushbuck
#cheetah x2
#eagle #bird
Heh. #lion paw waving about.
Neck of a bird I think, probably #kori-bustard. They fluff up their neck feathers when they're displaying.
Is that a #steinbuck?
snerk
#lion x2
#hare
#topi
I'd go for #warthog too... that "mane" looks very typical, and it's too small for a waterbuck.
#waterbuck
#thomsons-gazelle
I think that's actually light reflected off spiderwebs close to the cam.
#elephant #young
Female #impala herd.
#reedbuck
So tiny! 😄
Tip of a #serval tail.
#black-backed-jackal
Wow... #ostrich
#dikdik
Nice one of a #lappet-faced-vulture!
#bird
#lion
#vervet-monkey x2
#eland x2
#reedbuck
#bushbuck
#spotted-hyena
Psychedelic #bushbuck
Lovely capture of a male #impala
#springhare #rodent
#hartebeest fleeing to safety as the #fire comes near.
#impala
#zebra and #giraffe meeting.
#secretary-bird discarding some grass. Probably not good enough to pad a nest with!
Smaller creatures on the left, but too far away for details. #Mongoose?
#bushbuck
#spotted-hyena
#dikdik
snerk
#bushbuck with the white spots clearly visible.
Male #impala
#lion
#spotted-hyena
Great capture of a #serval
#ostrich
#topi x2
#white-tailed-mongoose
#lion x2
#dikdik
#topi
No, they're #grants-gazelle, their white butts and white tails are just visible.
#reedbuck mama with #young one.
#reedbuck
#dikdik
#warthog tusk
Male #impala
#topi
Is that #hartebeest one-eyed or just snoozing with eyes closed?
#spotted-hyena
#lion
#spotted-hyena, not exactly skinny.
#lion
Too small, and has tusks not horns... #warthog
#impala
#reedbuck
It's the neck of a bustard
Neat! #zebra #giraffe #elephant #impala
#spotted-hyena
#lion
The collar is a tracking device, some of the lions have them.
Yes, the little guy is a dikdik. There are some impalas in the background though.
#young #thomsons-gazelle
Sudden #serval
#baboon
#reedbuck
#bushbuck x2
#warthog x3
Check out those powerful legs! 😄
#hippo with #young one.
#lion
#topi
#serval playing with the camera.
#lion trio
#guineafowl parade
Panting #cheetah
#ostrich moving in the distance.
#spotted-hyena
#baboon
#reedbuck
#cheetah
#reedbuck
#butterfly , probably Colotis sp.
#porcupine
#reedbuck
#baboon
#spotted-hyena
Mongoose?
Male #impala herding a bunch of females.
#spotted-hyena
#starling sitting and watching a bunch of #guineafowl
Those aren't birds, they're flies, and lots of them... 😐
#bird
#impala actually, if you take a closer look at their noses and the black eartips.
#spotted-hyena
Must be the umbilical cord?
#oxpecker in a forest of #eland legs.
That's one rather plump-looking #spotted-hyena
#secretary-bird doesn't look like it wants company.
#lion
I would have said it's a hyena, those are rather big round ears. The #zebra is definitely aware of whatever's lurking there.
#warthog
Deflated #balloon
#jackal
#impala
Yes, #baboon and he's holding something in his hand too, investigating it.
#topi
#hippo
#impala by night. The black ear tips are nicely visible, as well as the black tuft of hair above the hoof on the hind leg.
Nice side view of a #grants-gazelle
#warthog
#eland and a lot of flies!
That looks like a monkey's tail...
#cheetah
#thomsons-gazelle , you can see the black "racing stripe".
#jackal x2 watching something walk past.
#dust-devil
#white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird
Yes, unicorn. Also, #thomsons-gazelle 😃
#dikdik
#baboon
#spotted-hyena
Yes, two warthogs being friendly!
Yes. Black and somewhat bushy tail, definitely a #thomsons-gazelle
#reedbuck
Yes, #reedbuck very definitely. The ones with the black "tear" eye spots are dikdiks. Reedbucks have a little black spot under the ear.
Hyena tail?
Up front that's a #hartebeest , and in the background several #grants-gazelle
#hartlaubs-bustard
#spotted-hyena
#cheetah I think
#vervet-monkey
Wonderful capture of a #spotted-hyena
#cheetah
#bushbuck
#white-tailed-mongoose
#porcupine
#lion approaching!
#zebra , you can just see a bit of the striped hock in picture 2.
Caracal I think?
This #dikdik doesn't look alright. 😐
#topi walking past two #young ones resting in the grass.
#lion
#young #wildebeest
#bushbuck
#elephant #baby kicking up some dust. 😄
#elephant tusk. That one really had me puzzled for a moment.
Weird one... owl side view?
Yay, #waterbuck !
Wow, nice capture!
#lion
I think there might be 3 actually, with one hiding in the shadow near the middle of the pic. There's something moving there.
That could be a male Hypolimnas misippus fluttering past... or some very similar-looking species anyways. #butterfly
True, could be #impala as well. Hm! 😐
They look a bit plump and not so tall to me though.
#porcupine butt
#lion paw!
#cheetah
#cheetah
Blurry #reedbuck I think.
Four #grey-breasted-spurfowl up close and easier to see than usual.
#bird
#spotted-hyena
#white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird in the lower left corner.
Odd...
Could this be a #zorilla ?
#serval
#porcupine
#wattled-starling #bird in the left lower corner, and a #gazelle herd in the background.
Looks like there are whiskers, so maybe feline?
#lion group of five.
#dikdik
#poo
#topi
#bushbuck
#lion
#serval
#martial-eagle perched on treetrunk. I only know because I've seen other pictures close to that timestamp. 😉
#hippo
#reedbuck
#giraffe group pruning the trees.
#giraffe
Run #spotted-hyena run!
#serval
#southern-ground-hornbill #bird
Male #thomsons-gazelle checking out a female.
Are these #warthog youngsters? How cute.
Behind the #buffalo herd, there's a bunch of long-tailed #birds in the tree, about starling-sized... can anyone ID?
Heh. I actually picked wildebeest since I had to pick something. But that sure looks weird.
Wow, good one!
It's a #hare
Good question...
Big #baboon group, with several more almost hidden by the high grass, and little ones too.
#giraffe gathering.
#eland mama and #baby
#baboon x2
#vervet-monkey x2
#spotted-hyena
#lion
#hippo
#serval sneaking.
Investigative #serval
#cheetah slumber party.
In that case, #martial-eagle
#bushbuck by daylight.
#giraffe huddle.
#spotted-hyena
#serval tail.
#baboon on the move.
Whoever this is, he has flies buzzing around him.
Yes, #impala and what appears to be a #young one in the background.
#secretary-bird up close.
Seeing double. #secretary-bird
This sequence made me snicker. Shake that butt!
#thomsons-gazelle
#reedbuck
#hippo
Nice one of a #hippo
Neat! Probably wouldn't have seen that, it's so tiny.
I would have said #secretary-bird looking back over its shoulder.
I don't see anything here, just vegetation...
Yes, I think it's a #wildebeest eating grass, and seen from the back.
I don't see anything...
That's a #buffalo horn we're looking at here, with the buffalo facing away from us. 😉
#hippo
#cheetah disappearing.
#kori-bustard portrait.
#dikdik
Male #bushbuck with the white markings clearly visible.
Awesome capture.
#baby #impala hiding in the grass. At least that's what I think it is, I've seen impalas in this spot several times before iirc.
#black-backed-jackal posing wonderfully for the cam. Also a small #zebra group in the background.
#ostrich
#spotted-hyena
Definitely think so!
#side-striped-jackal I think... since the only thing that can be seen clearly is a bushy tail with a white tip.
He's holding something in his beak I think. Time for a snack!
Plump-looking body shape, a small head with blue and red face and a little crest on top... #guineafowl
Going by the pattern on the feathers I'd say it's the rear end of a #hartlaubs-bustard
Ahem. I think they're just making a little brother or sister for their kid.
#bushbuck #baby
#topi
#bird #lilac-breasted-roller
I think those could be #marabou actually
Another postcard motif of a #giraffe
They're so adorkable.
Nice find!
Do I see that right? Are there cows mixed in with the #buffalo herd?
#hippo
#reedbuck
It's so great to actually get to see more than just their leg joints every once in a while! 😉
#buffalo and #babies
#baboon with #baby on back
#ostrich
#bushbuck
#superb-starling #bird
Yup, I spotted the bird! And it's standing stock-still too, probably should have been a hint that there's a predator closeby. 😐
Looks like one to me, yes!
It's a young #wildebeest
Disembodied #elephant tail.
#white-bellied-bustard
Huge #dust-devil
#bushbuck
Short black tail might be a #thomsons-gazelle
I admit I have no clue. It's hairy all over, but not long hair like a wildebeest's. Yeti? Waterbuck? Monkey?
#eland decorated with a grass-and-dirt headdress.
Most likely it's the backside of a jumping #reedbuck
#bushbuck
#hartebeest stepped on a spiky branch. Ouch.
#thomsons-gazelle and #crowned-lapwing just standing there.
#baboon profile.
Sort of spooky!
These huge #wildebeest herds never cease to amaze me!
#secretary-bird with a big load of nest-building material.
Maybe a predator approaching? They all seem to be very still and alert with eyes and ears pointing in the same direction.
#mongoose
#impala
#cheetah
That's just impressive.
#wildebeest #herd
#topi #closeup
#wildebeest group with #baby
Yes! It's fairly big, got black and white plumage and these longer tail feathers sticking out.
#secretary-bird
#spotted-hyena moving past a #gazelle herd.
#baby
I've no idea either, but I agree that it looks like feathers.
#spotted-hyena
Looks like an eland to me!
2x #white-headed-buffalo-weaver #bird
Great capture of a #warthog
#servals interacting.
Lazy day in lion land.
A pile of #wildebeest 😉
#thomsons-gazelle and #crowned-lapwing side by side.
#baboon x2
#warthog meeting.
I'd go with hartebeest because of the colour and ear shape.
#wildebeest herd on the move, except for mama feeding her baby.
Yes
#baboon group
Sure looks like one to me!
Quite the lively bunch!
#bushbuck x2
#topi
#baboon
#topi
#hartebeest flapping its ears quite wonderfully. 😉
Oooh, nice one! #lion
A small feline?
#spotted-hyena
#bushbuck
Oh wow, how exciting! 😄
#bird pecking the camera?
Some kind of ground #bird... coqui francolins? Or spurfowl?
Alright, what am I looking at here? It's probably not a white chicken with a snake stuck to it, but that's how it looks to me!
#cheetah , barely there.
#reedbuck
Some type of #bird , maybe a starling?
#elephant and #baby
sniff sniff sniff
#thomson-gazelle fight in the distance.
Spurfowl I think?
#bird
Yup! Looks very young too!
#bird #kite
#lion and he's probably licking his butt. 😮
Nice capture of a #warthog
Long-necked #bird on the ground, maybe some type of bustard?
Very definitely #grants-gazelle
Swooping #bird
#dust-devil
#spotted-hyena
#reedbuck
Yep, can definitely see the warthog shape now. d'oh
I think there might be a second #lion in the background, but then again it could be a dead branch or a rock.
Wow, 5 of them at once!
#spotted-hyena
#spotted-hyena
This one has me stumped. I thought "bird", but the longer I look at it, the less sure I am.
#secretary-bird gathering up twigs.
Spooked #impala
#serval
#lion roll.
#spotted-hyena up close.
#thomsons-gazelle battling an annoying spiky twig.
#dikdik
#serval x2?
#hippo
#topi
Serval I think?
Relaxed #lion
Nice one of a #giraffe
Well, it could be a five-legged elephant... just saying.
Getting flashed by a #topi 😮
#dikdik
Chocolate-dipped hyena? Sounds enticing, I'll have one please!
Conga line! (^_^)/
Speeding #zebra
#serval on the prowl.
#spotted-hyena
#hyena interacting with what seems to be a dead branch.
#ostrich and a #giraffe in the background.
#lion
#gazelle looking dorky.
#closeup
Awesome, haven't seen this captured before!
#eland with #oxpecker clinging on to its leg.
#topi
#aardwolf
#guineafowl
#grey-backed-fiscal #bird
Hyena is my guess. Looks like big round ears there.
#giraffe and #guineafowl
Wet fur. Wildebeest maybe?
The body shape is that of a hyena I think. So possibly an #aardwolf or a striped hyena?
#lion ears.
#serval backside.
#shadow moving, but impossible to tell what or who's casting it.
#feline
Neat how you can just see the nose!
Insomniac maybe? 😉
#marabou I think!
#bird
One #porcupine or maybe even two?
#spotted-hyena
#spotted-hyena
Possibly Hildebrandt's starling?
#starling #bird
#bushbuck and #baby
#black-bellied-bustard #bird
Young #wildebeest hiding in the grass.
Nice one. I've never seen that many in one picture!
Too big to be servals I think.
Spot the #giraffe
Nice find!
#hare
#baboon
#topi backside
#jackal showing off its teeth.
#kori-bustard displaying.
#bird
#dikdik
Giving us something to see, how nice!

#elephant walking past the cam at close distance.
#lion with collar.
#spotted-hyena
#topi eyeing #lion ?
What the heck am I looking at here?
#warthog gathering.
First time I've seen a #topi group picture.
#secretary-bird
Nice capture of #ostrich on the move.
That's awesome!
Who knew that #baboon butts were so shiny?
#ostrich
#hippo
#zebra investigating the camera.
My guess would be Thomson's gazelle, and that's a part of the belly and hind leg that we're looking at.
Ectoparasites?
#buffalo #young #oxpecker #bird
#dikdik
Awesome sequence!
#wildebeest looking somewhat surprised.
#spotted-hyena
#spotted-hyena
Wow, quite some action going on here!
Unicorn!
Oooh, nice one!

Love the picture. muted colours and mist and the animals barely more than silhouettes...
#buffalo
#wildebeest and #oxpecker
#bushbuck with a missing eartip.
#impala party.
#bird in flight.
#warthog
#bird #magpie-shrike
Lion's mane? Looks too long and shaggy to be anything else...
#bushbuck
I guess sometimes it's nice to feel the breeze? 😉
Someone's playing with the camera. 😄
Serval? Looks too small and thin to be a cheetah or leopard.
I do wonder how that happens.
#serval
#impala
Peeking #bird
#serval camouflage in action.
Nice capture!
Isn't this way too dark for a dikdik?
#leopard
Booty's not the only thing shaking here... (O_O)
#bird taking a nap right in front of the camera.
Mongoose?
#gazelle with deformed horns
"This may come as a total surprise, son, but you've been adopted."
Poor guy's feeling itchy and has nobody to scratch him!
#wildebeest
#aardvark
Some type of kite, but which?
#bird #raptor #kite
Did I see that right? Is there a second #baboon climbing the tree to the very right?
snerk
#lion butt?
#elephant
Ooh nice capture!
#thomsonsgazelle huddle.
#bird wandering between the gazelles... is this a chick?
Serval? It looks like a feline to me at any rate.
#zebra with #oxpecker riding along.
#hippo
Awesome picture.
Bad hair day lion.
#aardvark
One #thomsonsgazelle seems to have a deformed horn that curls up on itself, and the other one has horns that cross. Weird.
Looks like this guy has really crooked horns.
#thomsonsgazelle
#thomsongazelle youngsters hanging out.
#zebra flehmen response.
#cheetah
Looks like feathers...
#topi
