What counts as eating?

    Does chewing cud count as eating, or part of the digestion process?

    Hmmmmm...we hadn't thought of that before! I'll say that if animals are actively noshing (on grass or on another animal), then mark it as eating. if you don't see them doing that, then it's not eating....so....no?

    (I say that in part, too, because they could chew cud anywhere. while actively grazing or killing an animal gives us specific information about how animals are using their landscape to acquire resources.)

    Ah, "acquiring resources" is helpful. Does that include less nutrition-based actions like drinking at a water source (hydration)? I've only seen animals drinking twice, but I felt a little hesitant before choosing to use the eating button for it...
