Snapshot Serengeti Talk

Current Snapshot Serengeti site

We are moving to the new platform Snapshot Safari very soon. I think it is very important to all of us to know about

What happens to the current Snapshot Serengeti site? Are the content of old Talk moved to the new platform? And if that is not possible,

Are all the content of old SSS Talk (original discussions on boards, personal image-collections, images found with Search etc.) safe and still visible here, for us and also future generations to see, online permanently? I started this info, so that our Team can give here us information about that 😃

    Hi All,

I hoped information about things (in message above) to be added here.

But read from Blog today that personal image-collections should be saved to own computer by Feb 1.
I am quite confused about how we could do that and in one day.

I have now asked for help to this collection-saving on main Zooniverse. I truly hope that we get some help with this soon

That is correct, here is the latest update to the blog post:

"The talk.snapshotserengeti.org site won't be changing at all in the short term. In the long term its contents will be archived permanently, including  your collections and favorites."

    Just for your information:

You can save any image on Snapshot Serengeti by right clicking on it and selecting, "Save As." It is a bit slow, I don't know of any feature where you can download your entire collection, but if you ever want to save pictures to your personal computer or a hard drive, that is one option.

And if you ever want to use the images, remember that they are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.

Absolutely a big relief to all of us, that we don’t need to worry about, what happens to our current Snapshot Serengeti Talk.
All the content will be in safe and available.

Some discussion topics will be transferred to the new Snapshot Serengeti Talk on the new platform Snapshot Safari, the majority of discussions will remain here.

All the content here in the original Snapshot Serengeti Talk (discussions on boards, image-collections and favorites) will be in safe, and will be found and visible to view online permanently.

This is a precious treasure to us and also to the future generations, with significant scientific, historical, also personal value. Lots of useful and interesting information. Years of work of all the dedicated people who have been participating this project during these years. The history of the Snapshot Serengeti with all enjoyable moments and wonderful people 😃
